As a 1st time mom this starter bottle set was an excellent buy, since I'm breastfeeding and don't need that many bottles. My baby has no spit-up as a result of the great design and she hardly burps because she doesn't swallow any air. The brush that is included is very small and is only meant to clean the items that are placed inside the bottles, so you would have to purchase a standard size brush to clean the bottles.
I read the other review and had to share - yes, there are more parts, but the parts are what make the bottle's "magic". My children all had reflux and the doctor suggested I switch to these bottles. They are wonderful!

I also do not kno whether or not helps with gas. Before i bought her this bottle at 8 months old, i used the playtex air vent system that i absolutely loved but the baby cereal would always clog up on the lower rubber vent. so i got this one recommended by a friend. it works great the only prob is the extra time to clean but you get the hang of it. you cant tip the bottle with the cap on either, it still spills (the playtex did not) but its cool how people get so curious on how it works with the tube and all...and how they think its ridiculous to but an expensive bottle.
There are many parts to clean with these bottles, but they definitely did their job. My daughter loved them and never had any problems while she was an infant.
MY BABY WAAS VERY GASSY COULDN'T PASS GAS OR BURP WITH REGULAR BOTTLE. I BOUGHT 1 DR BROWN AND IT DID WONDERS. I THOUGHT SINCE SHE 7 WEEKS I COULD USE REGULAR BOTTLE. SHE GAVE ME THE BLUES CRYING, GASSY, COULDN'T BURP. PUT HER BACK ON DR BROWN THE NEXT DAY SHE WAS BETTER. THIS THE ONLY BOTTLE I WILL EVER USE.
I used this bottle when my last baby was little, he loved it and didn't seem to have any issues. Didn't seem to spit up a lot or having any gas problems. Got it for most recent baby and he's still adjusting to me not being home so he isn't really taking any bottle no matter the kind.
These are the best bottles. My son was so gassy when we used regular bottles and he would also make a gulping sound like he was getting too much air, then we switched to Dr. Browns. There is no more gulping sounds and his gassiness was cut by about 90%. Little tip: Do Not shake your formula when mixing. We make our bottles 'to order'- heat the water to really, really warm add formula and STIR. Wait 5 minutes then lightly stir again and feed. I have noticed that doing it this way has also pretty much eliminated spit-up. Also, love the little tiny wire brush. It fits great into the little holes in the air-cap thingy. Very easy to put back together and very easy to wash. No complaints what-so-ever.
IT is generally good but the problem on is when you go out you have to cover the bottle with the lid otherwise milk will be everywhere.
I cant say if they really help with gas as my daughter used many different types of bottles and never had a problem. But i can say that cleaning all the parts are a pain in the neck. I preferred the more simple bottles, these were very time consuming
