[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This gadget attached perfectly to my Dremel and although lightweight it performed well. I was easily able to move my cut surface. I used it to cutout the hole in a ceiling tile for a recessed light. I was a little hesitant but it It worked flawlessly. Dremel has provided me this product in exchange for an honest review.
just what needed to finish my project
I needed to carve three 1/4" grooves on a 1x4 slab of common wood to replace a broken side in my attic pull-down ladder. This tool worked perfectly for the job. I used the #561 cutting bit for wood, which is one of 3 that come with the kit (and the only one that works for wood). My Dremel 3000 has 5 speed settings, and I found that the 2nd fastest worked best. The bit ate through the wood with very little effort and the guide kept the 1/4" depth consistent throughout. It performed beautifully! I only wish the cutting guide was made of metal. While it held up for this project really well and feels sturdy enough, I can see it wearing out with repeated or heavy use. It shouldn't be a problem for sporadic projects, hence my 4-star rating on the quality of the product.
I have used a Zip saw for many years and the Dremel multipurpose cutting tool is very similar except much easier to handle and works great for crafts. All the animals in the picture were cut out of plastic with with the Dremel multipurpose cutting attachment. Very fast and easy
I'm all the time tinkering and modifying my gold prospecting hobby equipment. Love using Lucite for my builds. This bit is the ONLY way to cut lucite and have it not shatter. Buy more than one, because you'll always be misplacing this bit if you only have one.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For smaller projects, I have been using this tool to make minor cuts in wood and plastics rather than busting out my router or bigger tools. This tool works great, but there is a slight tolerance on the locking nut that causes the bit to cut at an angle if you apply too much pressure. I found that slower, steady pace works best. Dremel has provided me this product in exchange for an honest review.
I like the versatility being able to cut out receptacle boxes in drywall to usint it for engraving and doing inlays in wood. I would recommend getting the 565 multipurpose cutting kit for diy'ers and hobbyist alike great tool for a reliable brand. Thank you Dremel!
This attachment worked fine. Hardest part is having to move slowly to avoid breaking bit. You can't go fast as the bit is thin and not made to cut quickly. Oh, and need I say it, have a vacuum on as this will create a some dust.
I purchased the rotary tool in iys case with quite a good assortment of accessories. I then purchased #563 but, surprise! It requires an adaptor to screw it onto the rotary tool, not included with one or the other and not available alone in stores except withg another rotary tool. Not even mentioned anywhere that it requires such a part and that it is not available alone. Sad for such a good brand.
This is definitely only for very thin board like from a crafts store. Used on some plywood and the thing shakes and jumps all over.
