I was skeptical about getting anything to sit on because of my heavy weight but this bench could hold me with no problems. I feel secure and it's nice and wide for comfort. Definitely suggest this item for someone that weighs from 400-500 lbs.

This is a very sturdy shower bench and it certainly makes things easier. I am very tall and this bench has plenty of height adjustment on the legs to allow me to stand up easily. It also fits well in the tub.

Great bench for heavier people

Shipping box was light enough to handle and I'm pretty weak. Just a screwdriver and pliers to put together and had clear instructions. Had a little fight with installing the cross brace, but doing both sides of#1 the #2 made it easier. Seat feels sturdy and secure under my very heavy frame. Legs get pretty high, compared to my rickety old seat, which wasn't designed for a bariatric individual. Since it is light enough to carry, I can use it for cleaning tasks, around the house, since my standing time is limited.

I am very happy with the heavy duty Bariatric bath bench. It was easy to assemble and is very sturdy, light weight and safe. To ensure stability once the bench is assembled, the nuts should be tightened with an inexpensive 10 mm nut driver socket as hand tightening is insufficient.

Better stool because of brace!!

We have had a couple of other stools for my father-in-law that did not have the brace underneath and they were definitely wobbly. This one is for my mom and it is very stable. It is better made and gives her the support she needs in the shower. I would recommend this above the stools without the brace. It is worth the extra price.

Defective Clips- Height Not Adj After Assembly

Chair is very sturdy. The screws go down into machined metal inserts, not just plastic, like competitors chairs. The screw threads are smooth and close together. The hex head nuts screw onto the bolts smoothly. I do suggest that you scotch tape those curved metal washers into position BEFORE you start with the bolts, because the washers like to flip around a bit, since they are curved. Also, you will be holding two loose aluminum tubes, a rounded washer, a bolt, and maybe a nut, all at the same time. That's a lot to juggle as you try to read the tiny print in the dim photos in the brochure. You will need a Phillips screw driver and a socket wrench, or just a small wrench, to tighten the nuts while you hold the screw in place from turning. Assembly process went fairly smoothly UNTIL time to insert the legs into the leg receivers. This is how the height of legs is changed. You are supposed to be able to slide the legs up and down to adjust their height. This adjustment will be IMPOSSIBLE after assembly. There is NO push-button height adjustment with this chair. See my photos of the c-shaped clips. Compare them with the brochure photos right next to the actual clips. See the curve of the actual clip is much rounder than the brochure image? That c-shaped clip is almost impossible to push onto the leg receptor. It has to flex open more than it is shaped to do. The clips that came with my chair are NOT the clips that are in the brochure. Their opening is too small, tight, narrow. You need a ring-spreader for this clip. The clip does not want to flex wide enough to slip onto the leg receptor. The plastic is thick, stiff, almost unbending. Also, a ring molded onto the outside of the clip prevents pushing down right where you need to apply the most pressure. Your thumbs must go on either side of that ring. I hurt my thumbs trying to pull the clips open far enough to push onto the leg receptor. After getting the clips onto the leg receptor, there is no way to pull them off again to re-adjust the leg height. EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO ASSEMBLE! IMPOSSIBLE to adjust leg height after assembly! Decide on the height you want BEFORE this final step, because I don't see how you are going to be able to change the height after having to force those defective clips onto the chair legs. I called tech support at Drive Medical. The tech guy asked me to send him photos. That was great! However, his reply was basically, 'We don't have any clips that are "not as curved" as your clips. Just push harder." As I read his reply, my thoughts were like...Well sure, Bud. Why didn't I think of that? !!!! What do you think I've been doing?!! Your stupid clips are not made to spec! They are not made right! They do not even match your own photos! But I should just push harder? With my 67 yr old arthritic hands? So sorry to have bothered you, young man! Just be aware what you're getting into before you buy this chair. Have some strong male hands to help with this final step.

This Drive Shower Seat will be my 3rd one, the first 2 seats split on the seams and fill with water? Once they spit the ¼ X 28 X 1 ½ screws that attach the seat push up thru the plastic seat, and its like sitting on a nail? My weight is about 220 lbs. I suggest that a piece should be molded into the inside of the seat where these 5 screws hold the seat on?
