I need a handicap height stool, but my apartment complex only has standard height. The standard puts my hips below my knees, making it difficult to get on an off from. This riser adds just the height I need for pain-free use of my stool. The side rails add extra support. This matters today since i broke my leg recently, and need the extra help.
I ordered this riser for my mother because she was recovering from back surgery. It has helped immensely because the "arms" of the riser help her keep her balance so she does not fall. I wear disposable nitrile gloves when I clean the riser which isn't difficult when using both cleansing and disinfectant wipes. This is the second riser I have purchased in the past five years.
The seat riser is great since you can put your own toilet seat over it. It was very comfortable to use. The only problem was the safety bars for me. They are not adjustable and may be in the way of maneuvering your arms while on the toilet. You can remove one or both safety bars if necessary. I removed both safety bars. But the seat riser itself was great even without the safety bars. I'm sure some people would most likely not have any problems with the height of the safety bars. You can use it with one, both, or no safety bars at all. If you install the seat riser with the safety bars on you will have to remove the seat riser in order to remove the safety bars. But it is very easy to do. I highly recommend this seat riser.
I purchased this item in preparation of an upsoming surgery. Needless to say, it served the purpose of assisting me in not struggling to sit on the low toilet in my bathroom. I highly recommend this product. Great value and very sturdy.
The item arrived on time, well packaged . When I examined the interior box, it appeared to have been re-taped at some point. I followed the easy instructions to assemble the toilet seat riser, there are picture diagrams too, and no tools are needed. When assembling it, I noticed that one of the ' click in place' ball bearings would not ' pop out ' to engage one side of the handle locking mechanism, I repeatedly clicked it, and it did eventually hold. The toilet seat is super easy to install. You simply remove the bolts holding your original toilet seat in position, take off the seat and lid and place new riser on your porcelain toilet, then put your original seat and lid back on OVER the new riser seat, drop in the long bolts that came with your new riser seat, and tighten, but not too tight that you would crack your porcelain toilet bowl ! ( It would be good if the riser came with 2 soft plastic washers to protect the toilet bowl) . Now you can put your lid down over the seat and the riser. IMPORTANT NOTE: If your original toilet seat and lid have those little " flip up plastic covers " that cover the seat screw /bolt heads, these flip up covers will no longer close over the new long bolts that you have to use to attach the riser seat to the toilet base, it' no big deal, certainly not a safety issue, it just looks a bit unsightly to have the flaps sticking up and the big silver bolt heads showing. I really needed the riser seat for my husband, however, I should have returned the unit and waited for a replacement one to arrive, because one handle ' arm' is a bit wobbly because of that defective ' click ball' mechanism that does not properly engage. ( I think the reason for the ' retaping' of the package, was that perhaps a customer had already returned the unit as broken, and it inadvertently just got put back on the shelf at the warehouse, and then shipped out to me. )
I bought this seat because it was easy to add to our existing toilet. It works well but is not as stable as I would like. You can tighten it but that raises the whole seat up. It should not be used to pull yourself up but pushing yourself up is fine. It does what it is supposed to do.
Nicely engineered - easy to install. Nice height - bars are nice and steady. My only complaint was that the diameter was too small.
Like the seat riser with arms but needs something to stop it from sliding on top of toilet. Plastic on porcelain needs something to stop sliding, company doesn't have anything available. Had to come up with answer by self.
I bought this for an oblong toilet. Description said it would fit an oblong toilet that is 19"' but it doesn't. So i am going to return it. It would work on a standard "round" toilet.
The description for this item is that of a cane which carries the same item number. When you can find the correct description, it states that this item fits both standard and elongated toilets which is incorrect. It fits only standard toilets. Item ships as a Drive Medical #12402 which they clearly state is for standard only. Be aware however that the Drive #12403 which is for elongated toilets requires 6" toilet seat bolts which no on has! Suggest an alternate item.
