[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I live in an old drafty house so spent the time and money to film 10 windows yesterday. As of this morning more than half of the tops have fallen down. The pretaped film on top obviously needs reinforcement- stick with the original that you have to tape on all 4 sides!!!
Followed the prep directions to the last detail down to "remove the liner". What a joke. I wasted half the tape bending and flexing to get a place where I could even result in "removing the liner". In the meantime the tape became unstuck from the plastic window frame. A waste of my time and money, which I want back.
Installed roll-on window kit. A few days later we felt cold air coming in! Pre-taped top edge let loose! Big problem with that! Especially after you shrink it with hair dryer! Good luck getting that back on! Maybee I'll call Harry Hodini and have him work some magic on it to fix it! Thanks a lot! We need help! I will buy some more of your double stick tape and see if I can insert it under your roll-on tape.
I bought this product thinking it was going to be a good product but to my suprise it was less than good as a matter of fact it is flat out horrible tape does not stick and was a total nightmare to try and put up i do not recommend this product
The idea of having the preapplied tape is great, but the implementation is lack luster. The tape does not stay stuck, unlike the double sided tape in the other kits which works great. I cleaned around my window with alcohol, applied the roll on tape to the top edge of the frame and used the double sided duck brand tape on the other 3 edges. One day later and on the 2 windows I used the Roll-on product, 1/3 of the top edge is no longer adhered and the other three sides are still stuck tight. The other windows in my house where I used the standard film are all stuck tight as well. Clearly it was not a problem with the install or I would have expected the problem to be replicated on all the windows.
Very disappointed in this product. Compared to the competitor's product, I thought this top seal would be so helpful. I was so wrong! The top tapped edge does nothing and I even when we went back to double tape it under the edge and all around the outer edges again, the plastic comes right off with a big gust of wind! So terrible. Waiting on window seal from 3M to come before I rip these off. Film can't withstand the cold windy winters in Northeast Ohio.
I purchase the Duck brand window kits every year. This year I purchased this window kit because I thought it would make the task of covering the windows easier, I was wrong. Within a month of applying it to my windows, the top tape let go. I had to re-tape across the tops of every window to reinforce it. I will never purchase this again.
