I've always used plastic to cover my windows. But am trying this, this year to see if it works as good. What I love about it is you can still see thru your window, where you can't with plastic. I though it was going to be hard to put up because of some of the reviews I read. But it was surprisingly easy and alpt quicker than I thought. I'm not sure how efficient it is yet as it hasn't been cold enough for me to cover all my windows yet. I left a cpl so I can open them on nice days. If I'm able to, I will update when it's cold out where I can see if it works as good as plastic. But as for quick shipping and ease of installation, I'm very happy so far.
This is my favorite brand I have used this for the past 3 winters and it's so easy to put up and take down can't even tell it's on the window if I cut off the extra
Great size one sheet almost covered my double windows
This film is easy to apply. I live full time in a 5th wheel. The many windows can make it really cold in winter. Plus a higher propane usage! I know product cut down on inside cold temps this past winter. So easy, clean to remove, see outside. Just bought this new supply for next year! Inexpensive!
My home is 2000 sq ft and is normally heated with 1 window ac/heat unit and space heaters throughout. sonce wrappong my windows and the central are vents, we havent had to use a space heater. the window unit is set at 68 degrees and it is heating my whole house. the shrink wrap on the windows and anywhere we felt a draft has kept the cold out. i live in missouri so it gets really cold here. 1 box was enough to do everything i needed to with almost a whole roll left over. you cant even tell there is anything on the windows so you can still see out.
The Duck Brand Film window kit works perfectly on my sad single paned windows in this old house. Installation was a little tricky, but the finished project does a great job on my 2 bedroom windows. Laundry room is next. I am short, so a strong step stool was required, but a tall person will find it quick and easier. Instructions should include note about starting at top with the plastic unfolded a little (so you know that the unfolding is facing you and NOT the window). Also, note that the plastic unfolds 3 times to cover window casing. The plastic was thinner than I expected, but know that it is not like heavy plastic dropcloths. Even though it is thin i can tell the difference right away. Place tape carefully and as wide as possible on frame. That assures that for any slightly crooked plastic placement, you will still have complete window coverage toward the bottom. The paper strip on the two-sided sticky tape is a little hard to separate, so pull back a little corner before placing the tape. Overall, my job was pretty good. It would have been easier if i had taken down my simple rod with sheer curtains, but that was an extra step I didn't want to do. This also would be easier if you have a helper.
I was skeptical this would make a difference in my heating bill with my drafty 8 foot windows. But it was worth it!!! It was easy to use and apply and actually made a difference in my house keeping warm AND my ridiculous heating bill. It stayed up all season without any issues of unsticking.
The product is needed for windows that are abit older. The plastic keeps the little bit of air flow out of the house. It is fairly quick to apply tge plastic to the inside of the window and seals up quickly. Once up i usually leave it up all year on those crappy windows.
Our second year of using this film to help block out any cold drafts. We live in a single wide mobile home and this easy to use film makes a world of difference in the heat loss of our home on cold days. It is so easy to use and if need be one person can apply the film with no assistance of another. It's quick to do and considering that the cost is very reasonable for benefits, This particular one is enough to do all of our windows I feel like it's a no brainer to purchase again. Highly recommended
Plastic is ok, but the powder thats on the cover strip of the double sided tape makes for a really bad looking job. Static electricity causes it to cling all over the place, it gets in your eyes, makes you itch and a slight rash if you dont wash it off.
