This window kit was super easy - for starters all the product was in the box. The instructions were good. I was actually able to do this by myself without being overwhelmed. The plastic didn’t rip. And you can barely tell I have plastic up. This review was collected as part of a promotion, and the opinions are my own.
Living in an extreme weather environment, the winters can be brutal. There are air leaks around my bedroom window that cause the room to be very drafty. The window is 36" wide x 72" long meaning that the smaller 'window' size indoor film isn't sufficient to cover the entire window. Therefore I purchase the 'patio door' size film and fold it in half before securing it to the window. I don't go use the tape that comes with the film in order to 'heat shrink' the film against the window. I just use masking tape and affix the film to the drywall around the window frame and that does the trick. The film is thick and does not tear - excellent product. Voila! No more cold drafty bedroom!!
Super easy to apply for one person
This was my first time using this product.. I loved it. I was skeptical. I had seen it and never tried it. I over heard a family member talking about them having one they found while cleaning and they were excited. So I thought I need to give it a try.. I like the fact that it was easy for me to do it on my own. It is clear and seals up tight.. Just what I needed.. I had bought one that was too large for what I needed. So I was able to get 2 windows covered so far.. And may be able to seal up some smaller windows.. I would recommend this product. I am off to buy more...
This shrink wrap is so easy to use mainly because of the adhesive top strip which is so helpful for short people like me. Once it is attached, I could unroll the plastic little by little Best I've ever used
It's worth the money to keep the cold air out……
I had originally bought Frost King window kit, it was terrible. was hard to work with and had a haze look to the shrink wrap plastic. Duck's had none of these problems and looks fantastic, does take away from my big picture window. Had no problems continuing shrinking after being installed.
like others say, the tape in this is junk. shortly after installing it over my large window, it came loose at the top and hung down leaving a big gaping hole. defeats the entire purpose of putting it up! i had to buy packaging tape and really layer it on to stick it to the top. then the sides started coming loose and basically had to go over the entire product's junk tape with packaging tape. the film itself seems to be ok, the tape is absolute junk. i wouldn't even bother using it at all, just use packing tape.
Never enough tape. I bought the 7'x10' piece, with tape roll of 36'. Box says you can do one big XL window, or two large windows (4x6') - If you do 2 windows, you will not have enough tape. Why?
Do not buy this product. Do not buy ANY of the DUCK brand window film products. The "shrink" continues to shrink after you've used the blow dryer. It NEVER STOPS SHRINKING, so guess what? You get constant gaps and your rooms get cold. I've run out of tape I've had to reinforce the gaps so much. I bought several different kits, and I've been covering windows and doors for years. I know how to use these products, but the 3M brand... the brand I usually use was sold out. I have ONE window covered in leftover 3M product and it's holding just fine. All the DUCK covered windows and doors have to be redone, retaped, once a week and checked EVERY DAY for leaks. Who has time for this? I'm buying 3M stuff this weekend, at least for the patio door. It's the one that leaks everyday and I can't reinforce it anymore, the plastic has just shrunk too much. I'm losing $$$$ in higher heating costs.
