This oil works great for softening beards. Very distinctive scent of redwood, apricot and cloves. Dealing with the apothecary bottle cap has a bit of a learning curve; I've found that holding the bottle upside down and slapping the applicator into my hand seems to work the best for getting the product out. I would hope they might consider replacing this with an eyedropper.
It's a little tough to get the oil out but at least you know it won't spill when you travel. The scent seems to be a little different than the regular size but you still will be smelling good.
I, admittedly, do not have the nicest beard in all the land. It is what one might call patchy, relatively thin, and at times has been known to be quite unruly. I purchased the travel size of this beard oil to give it a go, and I must say, after applying it daily for a month I am quite pleased with the results. My face hairs are softer and visibly healthier. These results, when paired with the phenomenal scent profile, are why this product deserves a five star rating. Maybe even more than five stars. 6 stars? Of course. 7 stars? Surre.
The manly wood scent oh yea
ok so here's the deal. I've had a beard for years. I use regular shampoo (now Duke Cannon!) to clean my beard. I've used different oils before, even a jelly. honestly, it is what it is. however, recently, i'm sad to report, my beard started itching. i investigated and saw my skin was angry. nearly 2 decades without a problem. And i've only used oils for a couple years. Apparently I got lucky. Anyways, i bought this beard oil. I went with the travel size to try it out. the itch subsided on first use and within days the skin was back to normal. days: angry to normal... if you got the itch, buy this. If you don't and don't want the itch, buy this. If you want your beard to itch and cover your shirt with the furry of an upstate NY lake effect snow storm, don't buy it. the choice is yours.
Good scent, not over powering but still present throughout the day. No residual greasy/oily feeling left after using it. Helps soften up coarse facial hair, and starts almost immediately. The dropper/stopper that helps limit the flow so that you get drops is horrible. I have to basically bash the hell out of the bottle to get any out
Along with the other Duke Cannon beard oils, this one is top notch, especially after shower/blow dry, before bed. Only downside, the oil does not come out of the hole nearly at all, as the larger (30oz) bottle does. Plastic insert has to be removed to get enough oil out to use.
Scent is very good! I've had my beard for 10 years it's about 12” long I keep it trimmed. Works great, the ‘drop' on the trial size really sucks, so I pulled it out of the bottle. I imagine the full size bottle has a dropper style?
It smelled like cinnamon To me. And I had a lot of trouble getting it out of the bottle. For the price, other oils I've tried worked as well or better. One of the many Duke Cannon products I've tried that I wouldn't buy again. Bound to be one or two items I don't care for. As over tried many DC products and been more than satisfied.
I'm sure the beard oil itself is fine. But the scent is disappointing to say the least. It certainly does not live up to the description, "Features the scent of freshly split cedar, making you feel like you're on a walk through the Redwoods." Smells more like a run-of-the-mill Old Spice type scent. Not great.
