This is a Xmas present, so I haven't seen it work but I received it quickly and it was a good price.
Grand pop bought this for my daughter ,9, who is into collecting rocks and gems as a Christmas present. The reason for 1 stars is the tumble kept popping out of the grooves that hold the stones. We set the machine up in the basement and under a few cardboard boxes because the noise is SO LOUD. Per the instructions, we had it up and running for a few days and after about 2 days the noise stopped. I went to investigate and found the machine was still on but the tumbling action had stopped. On closer inspection though the clear cover I could see that the plastic prongs had popped from the spinner groove. Opened it up and reset them and it started tumbling the stones again. Same thing happen over 3 days and I notice it smelled burnt, half the time its not even spinning the stones? Its just staying turned on- big waste of money. I am very disappointed in this and so is my daughter. Will be returning to store for refund. We ended up purchasing the brand I remember when I was kid and it works great!.
This thing is CRAZY loud! It ran for 2 minutes and stopped. I smelled burning rubber. I started it again and it ran another few minutes and stopped. I took out 1 rock and it ran for about 5 minutes before I unplugged it (it says you can fill it 1/2 - 2/3 full, but I had it filled about 1/4). Your supposed to run this thing 12-26 days. There's just no way! Under 10 minutes was too long. It's not even the rock sound that's unbareable, it's the sound of the machine. Seriously, if you know someone that you hate and they have a kid they can't say no to, buy them this. They will hate you too. My daughter plugged her ears and asked me to shut it off.
Absolute garbage. Not even 2 tumble cycles and already broken. Don't waste your money.
