We are fortunate to homeschool in a state where we aren't required to test or do specific things which allow us to learn in a way that is interesting and that STICKS as opposed to just being tested on this, that and the other. What that does leave, however, is a bit of vague. By that I mean, I have an idea of where my child's reading and comprehensive level is, but because I don't test or require worksheets that are graded in the way others are, I don't know. Well, these Hot Dot Cards for Drawing Conclusions and Predicting Outcomes allow me to do just that in a super quick, low-stress, down & dirty way. These are larger cards (5.5x8) that come in a box that is the perfect size for the cards and to contain a pen (sold seperately). The front has a short 3-4 paragraph passage with 4 questions on the reverse. If you don't have the pen, the answer key will provide the correct answers. The index card has a list of all the cards (this set contains 50) as well as the approximate grade level of comprehension from 2.0 up to 5.9. I really like having these available for a quick assessment and would love it if our homeschool co-op had a library where these could be checked out and used by multiple people. They are expensive to be used once or twice as an assessment tool, but shared, they would really be fabulous!! Disclaimer: I received this item in exchange for an honest review.
