The fourth season of Eight is Enough finds the Bradford family saying goodbye to the seventies as a minor league baseball player sets a wedding date with Susan (Susan Richardson) that conflicts with David's own wedding and Nancy's (Diane Kay) singing engagement. Elsewhere, Joanie (Laurie Walters) and Tom Dick Van Patten become competing journalists, while Nicholas (Adam Rich) breaks a chain letter, and Tommy (Willie Ames) runs for Prom Queen. Finally, Abby (Betty Buckley) continues to grieve for her late husband, and Tom is forced to meet with his estranged father.
