I am very satisfied with this hot plate. for me, its just the right size for my 8inch pan. Tnanku Walmart. Its a keeper.
The surface area is great to hold large pots and cast iron skillets. I love the width for my oversized cooking. It also is convenient to use as a warming surface on the table. It is also pretty enough to set on a decorated table.
I bought this for a craft project. It works great. It was very inexpensive and well worth the cost. Just what I was looking for.
I read the instructions and turned it on low for 15 minutes; the instructions said it would smoke and smell. I only noticed a slight odor in my big kitchen; it might have smelled worse in a one-room apartment. I cooked a pot of corned beef and cabbage and it cooked just fine; ditto for a skillet with ham and eggs. The knob is easy to turn and the element heats enough to cook real food. I haven't set a tea kettle on it yet.
Bought for cooking coconut coals for hookah. Works likes a champ. Doesn't seem too durable but or the price I can't complain.
This "Elite Cuisine Single Burner Hot Plate" works as promised. It heats quickly, cooks evenly and gets the job done. I bought this hot plate to replace my old 1000 watt burner, sorry but I don't remember the name brand, and although Elite Cuisine is only a 750 watt hot plate it by-far out cooks the old one. I was pleasantly surprised with it's efficiency. One thing to keep in mind though...the "Elite Cuisine Single Burner Hot Plate" gets hot really quickly and if you don't watch your food closely, you can easily burn it. Now, the only reason I didn't rate this hot plate at a 5 is because it's not well made. The heating element fits really loosely and it isn't very sturdy. Also, when I received the hot plate the temperature knob was not assembled in the right place. When I turned it off...it was in the "high heat setting" position. A red flag on the "not well made" category. But all in all, the "Elite Cuisine Single Burner Hot Plate" works great and I WOULD recommend it to a friend. This particular hot plate might not be perfect but it cooks wonderfully and at less than $12.00 the price is right!
We bought this unit to replace our old Presto single burner unit which no longer shuts off. We drink about 16 cups of tea & instant coffee daily (2 of us). Turning on the 1500-watt range burner every time is a waste of electrical energy and also quite costly. The Elite Cuisine single burner is only 750 watts. It heats water to boiling somewhat slower than our old Presto burner (also 750 watts) but it's still quicker and more energy-efficient than the higher-wattage burners of our GE range/oven. The instruction pamphlet describes a red indicator light when the unit is turned on but we have not seen such a light, which is supposed to be on the temperature dial. This is a minor thing and not worth returning this unit for a replacement. The electrical function works as described and the price is great!
The hotplate is small but it seems to work well for even a big frying pan. Has plenty of power for simmering or boiling stuff. It doesn't have a big footprint which made me wonder if the hotplate would tip over easily but even with my big pot on it, its footing seems to be solid enough and nothing has tipped over. Nevertheless, the hotplate doesn't have a sold feel to it so I wonder how durable it will be. Anyway, I've used it a dozen times and so far it's doing a great job with no issues.
The coil wasn't level (had a high spot) as a result the pot of water was wobbly and made me worry that it might spill.
Takes a long time to bring a pot up to hot enough to boil a box of pasts. Doesn't bring it to full boil, just warm enough that bubbles form on the bottom of the pot.
