i purchased this for my daughter she is 11 and she loves reading books !kobo makes it easy to get hundreds of FREE Books! So glad i gave it to her early for Hanukkah
the Ematic EGL10P 7IN. goes beyond anything i expected-doesent overheat-long battery-i can s urf the net for hours- download any app-tons of free books- facebook-yahoo mail-ebay-i put a mini storage chip in , that i put all my pics and videos from my laptop- great browser.i even downloaded draw.oh and the screen is tough, doesnt scratch-walmart ship to store only took a few days -fits in any purse too!
I have purchased this product about a week ago and overall Im a happy camper, This is an excellent substitude for all those expensive tablets and touchpads, This product does the job just as good and easily. Kobo is an excellent tool for a quick and easy books purchase Thank you was very good decision
I'd been wanting an ebook reader for a long time. I gave this a four on both overall rating and value because, although it more than meets my expectations at a low price, even following the directions I found it difficult to download books at first. I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't see the screen at all in sunlight, and I like to read on the patio. It's probably my own fault, from not reading the description carefully, but I'm happy with it just the same as it fits easily in a handbag, and once I learned how, downloads books quickly and easily. I'm sure the earbud-type headset that came with it is good, but I used a headset I already own with it, as I'm mildly hearing challenged, when I watched the preloaded cartoon. My own headset worked quite well and the volume was good. I like to listen to audio books, but still haven't tried downloading any; I'm sure it will be possible when I try since it supports several types of audio files. We live in a company town of just under two thousand souls with one supermarket, a long way from the nearest town. On the occasions when my son and I go to another town, we sometimes stay overnight, and I know I'll be able to surf the web, check my Facebook and email, and read my ebooks in the comfort of a motel room without having to lug along books and a laptop (I don't have one yet). Please note: this item needs recharging after three hours of use, but does come with a power cord/adapter as well as a USB cord, so it can be recharged at any time and any place and recharges in a reasonable amount of time.
This was my option because I could not find a leap pad. My 6 year old loves it. I can finally have my iPad to myself again!
I owned this product for less than a day, before returning it to the store. I consider myself to be pretty tech savvy, and neither my husband or myself were able to get this product to run properly. Apps from the amazon and android app stores will not download at all. DOES NOT run kindle app or netflix app (app store said that this device did not support either), which are the two main reasons i purchased it. VERY slow to get up and running, and the wifi connection went in and out for no reason (not because of my wifi, as my laptop was getting wifi just fine). Bottom line, this product is not capable of doing BASIC tasks that a tablet/ereader should.
my son purchased this with his own money to replace a sylvania tablet that froze on him (poor customer service and technical support that failed to resolve the issue). we returned that item but got dinged the storage fee. he then decided to take a chance on the ematic after reading what it could do and a good number of the reviews. we had it for about 2-3 weeks before my son had time to take it out of the box and set it up. for about a month, it worked okay then started - turning the wi-fi on and off; turning itself on and off and now staying completely off. as aforementioned, it only worked okay for about the first month then the problems started happening - first every once in a while then more and more often until today when it froze. we're not able to reset it in any way, shape, or form. i'm debating whether to try to return to walmart but it's out of the product return time frame. also, it's not walmart's fault that the item is so horribly unreliable even though walmart carries the item. i don't know - perhaps we got a lemon. after reading some of the 3 - 5 star reviews,... in any case, we will never buy one (or any quantity) of these again. may try to call for technical support but have not had much luck before with a similar product so am not sure would want to go that route. fyi - son uses it almost every day and takes pretty good care of his stuff, especially since he bought it with his own funds.
Horrible product. If I had it to do all over again, I would spend the extra money and get a Kindle Fire. I bought this for my son to keep him off of mine. It is slow, has none of the popular games. Does not use Android apps like ot claims. A huge disappointment for me and my child.
I couldn't be more disappointed with this product. I bought this for my daughter for Christmas. It's not at all user-friendly for a beginner ereader/tablet user, and the instructions that come with the product are laughable. And then the product didn't last 4 months. It won't turn on, won't charge. Complete waste of money; I wish that I had just ponied up for the nook or kindle. This is definitely a case of "you get what you pay for."
I bought this even after reading the reviews because I am always wanting to give a product a chance as not everyone has the same experiences. I recieved this today and not even 10 minutes out of the box, it froze. So I reset it. It worked for another 30 minutes and froze again. So I reset once more. Within the last 7 hours, it has froze up 12 more times. During the times I was able to use it I was able to easily download ebooks from the selected apps that come on it. The operating system is slow and glitchy; not at all like the android system on my phone (which works way better). You cannot load or use Google Play. You can possibly use Amazon for ebooks and games. The sound is very low unless you use earphones (does not come with earphones). Ebooks are easily accessible and page turns are ok. Downloading ebooks from other sources is confusing and difficult. To sum up my experience with this ereader, it was bad. I am returning it and going for something better that has better reviews and a better reputation. My advise is reseach the product and trust the reviews. Something new shouldn't have issues like this.
