I bought this for my home theater abs it exceeded my expectation by a long shot! The features, the brilliant image in daylight or darkness is superb!
Opening the box This projector is absolutely amazing from opening the box to watching movies and/or TV on it. First of all the packaging was set up very nice. When opening the box everything is very well setup up to make it an easy setup. I was able to open one box and had everything I needed for accessories at my hands. Then only needed to put the projector where I needed it to be. Setup The setup was about the easiest setup I think I have ever experienced. Even my non-technological 15 year old daughter (who was helping me set it up) said this is so easy. The directions for setup were step by step and super simple to follow. It comes with a stick almost reminds me of a Firestick and connects directly to my Wi-Fi and no need for extra wires all over the place. It nice that it has a hidden storage for the stick. Then if you decided the apps weren't enough for you it also have other connections in the front for a gaming system or to hook it up to a computer. It only took me about 15 minutes to fully setup and most of that was entering my password to the Apps I installed. I did end up installing Hulu and Disney+. The Keystone is very nice it gives you a choice of Vertical and horizontal. So even if you did what I did and didn't center the projector you can just adjust your keystone without worrying about moving your projector. Picture and sound This thing has an amazing picture. I had a smaller projector and screen previously installed, but this has a much larger screen size and I had to use my wall instead of my screen, I couldn't even see any difference in the quality of the picture, it has such a clean and crisp picture. This projector is awesome! Of course not to forget the sound. Most projector's come with speakers but they are barely heard or they crackle as soon as you turn them up. I turned these speakers up about half way and the sound was extremely clear and surprisingly loud. We watched a couple of movies on it immediately and this projector is so clear. I love the fact that it's a short throw projector and you don't have to worry about any shadows from people walking in front of it. It's awesome to have a smart projector that connects to my Wi-Fi and no need for any additional computers to watch movies or tv. Cons The only cons I have come across with this projector is I didn't have it sooner. This is a review for the Epson EpiqVision Ultra LS500 Short Throw Laser projector that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.
While locked inside like the rest of the world in 2020 our family was watching TV on a small 10-year-old 42” television. It had so many little issues, but we kept using it since it still technically worked, and we spent a lot of money when we bought it. Recently we were told about a new projector that we should get to replace our TV, and I'll say this much the Epson Ultra LS500 really lives up to the hype. I had no idea that a short throw projector could get a screen so dang big. I am not exactly sure how big the picture is, but I do know that even without a projector screen the picture quality was better than anything I have seen before. This really looks like something that will last us another 10 or more years like our last TV. I think my prayers have been answered! I have always wanted a BIG image on the wall in my family room without the hassle of hanging a projector and installing a electric screen in my ceiling. Wasn't sure what to expect with the the Epson LS-500B laser TV projector and was absolutely amazed with the product! So where do I start? Basic Setup: I was able to get this unit up and running in less than 10 minutes! (I think it took me longer to open the box and pull the items out). In the box was the projection TV unit, a couple of remotes, and the Android Smart TV stick. All I had to do was to put the unit on my TV cabinet, plug in the Android stick to an HDMI input, and plug the projector in the wall. I then connected my Apple TV to the other HDMI input. (there are a total of 3 inputs). I powered up the unit and within 10 seconds, my family room wall lit up with a huge, bright, glorious image! Truly impressive! Positioning: After the unit was set on the cabinet, I realized that to get a particular size image in the place I wanted it, I needed to carefully set the unit at the appropriate height from the floor and distance from the wall. Based on my testing, here are the distances I used: 100” image: Front of unit should be 30 inches away from the wall. Top of unit should be 7” below where you want the bottom of the image to be. 120” image: Front of unit should be 35 inches away from the wall.Top of unit should be 9” below where you want the bottom of the image to be. Image Quality: Stunning! Super bright and crisp. 4K definitely is the way to go! I had the family room lights on and the image was popping. The brightness was comparable to my 65” LG flat panel. There are a few different viewing modes and I thought that the Bright Cinema mode has the best combination of brightness and color quality. There are some other modes designed for video gaming and other uses as well. Smart Projector: Like the Smart TV's out in the market, this projection unit came with a Smart TV HDMI stick that runs on Google Android, along with two remotes. Connecting it to my wifi network and gmail account was super easy. It also came with a number of Android apps already preloaded on the stick. In no time, I was streaming Youtube videos. Pretty cool. Product Design: The unit looks like a contemporary AV appliance. Not like a projector. It looks pretty clean on the cabinet and has a fabric grille that covers the front speakers and controls. Nothing fancy but clean. Audio: This is the only area that was below my expectation. There are two built-in speakers in the unit. The sound gets plenty loud, however, it is missing some of the highs and lows that I'm used to hearing from my soundbar. And it doesn't have any virtual surround sound modes. It's fine for my everyday TV watching, and I intend to connect this to some higher quality powered speakers to get more of a surround sound effect for movies and music. Summary: Overall, I am extremely pleased with this product! Epson has outdone themselves with this unit. The LS500B aesthetically fits in my home, provides an amazing theater experience, and is super easy to use. Impressed and certainly will be recommending to my friends. Un boxing this ls short throw projector was nice.,everthing secured good, procteted well, packed neatly. Setup went very smoothly, first thing to do was just hook up chromcast stick with included cords tuck away neatly in compartment. Second thing I did was to just turn on, follow easy steps by just pairing the ls500 with my phone and all info loaded in fast and with no issues. Picture set up is straight forward, just go to settings go down to picture and change from ceiling floor or wall mount. no issues. The ls500 comes with multiple ports nicely laid out.
I used the projector to watch movies, it has a crystal clear picture as if I'm looking at a smart Tv. It's peacefully quiet and lets off less heat than other projectors I've had in the past. It has a short throw lens so you have put the projector low and inches away from the screen. I was using a 6ft screen and I would recommend using a 8ft screen or larger, but if could have been not adjusting the settings correctly. It comes with a plug-in Epson android stick that you plug into the back slot (HDMI 3), which has a cover for it. You can download all apps just the same as a firestick. I Highly recommend this for your home especially if you have limited space. “This is a review for the Epson EpiqVision Ultra LS500 Short Throw Laser projector that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.”
