I gave these to my teenager who was having a lot of bowel problems after taking multiple regimens of antibiotics for a bacterial infection. When he finished taking the antibiotics he had a lot of intestinal pain and irregularity. I do usually prefer natural products and this one is pretty natural with peppermint oil being the main ingredient. I did give him some relief.
I have taken Heathers Tummy Tamers and NOW brand peppermint caps. As well as FDGard. The Heathers' look like these and are for IBS as well & contain peppermint, ginger, and fennel. These contain only peppermint oil. My Gastroenterologist gave the go-ahead for me to try when I mentioned reading about peppermint and she said it's a good supplement for ibs-like symptoms... gas, pain, bloating, cramps. For this Equate brand, the instructions say to take 2 gels, but I only took one each time. I did not want the minty burps or indigestion, so I started small. I waited about 45 min to an hour before eating. That is only downside of this supplement.... the instructions say wait 30-90 minutes before eating and I'm just unsure how to time that throughout the day, since I typically take these in the morning. It's tough to wait an hour to have breakfast if you got up late, for example. But when I've taken the Heather's and NOW brands... it is definitely important to wait. It does not feel pleasant to have the capsule open up too early in your stomach when mixed with food. The point is to let it go through your digestive system before eating, or the food slows down the pill too much and it is INVIGORATING in your stomach and not in a good way, ha. However, those other brands I tried were more potent with Fennel & Ginger. These equate capsules I did not have any problems taking them, but again I only took 1 per dose. I would advise anyone who has new or persistent digestive problems to PLEASE visit a GI doctor or at least your primary care, and don't try to self-diagnose or self-medicate until you have had other causes ruled out. Especially changes in bathroom habits, or noticing blood in stool. Dont' assume it is IBS. As far as effectiveness... I do think peppermint can soothe intestinal cramps. It's also good for general stomach upset or nausea. It didn't solve all my problems & stomach pains, but it did help with regularity.
Wow! What an amazing solution to my tummy troubles. The biggest problem I've had is they say to take them 30-60 minutes before your meal and I don't always eat at the same time or remember 30-60 minutes before I eat to take them.
These tablets really did help my stomach discomforts. Peppermint oil has always been my got to anyway when I'd have stomach discomforts, which is a Key ingredient in those tablets. I also found them easy to swallow, due to the size and oval shape of them. They were also easy on my stomach and didn't cause any additional discomforts. Overall, a nice product that id recommend trying.
I wanted to wait to review this product until I had been taking it for about a month. It is difficult to realize true results of any vitamin or supplement without giving it several weeks. I had never heard of taking peppermint oil to help with abdominal issues, but I live with abdominal problems and I am always looking for natural remedies, so I was happy to give it a try. The pills are dark green and have no initial taste or order. However, when taken at suggested dosage (two capsules) I started belching peppermint within minutes and I could actually feel it in my esophagus. Not a true burning sensation, but almost the feeling as if I swallowed a small peppermint candy. After a few days of it, I decided to reduce it to one capsule each morning and drink a larger glass of water with it. This helped. I have to say, fresh morning breath is a definite benefit to taking these. I started taking them to see if they would help with my chronic diarrhea and bowel urgency. Low and behold, I have seen improvement. It is not a cure all, but there is a definite improvement. I am not always searching for nearest restroom everywhere I go. Maybe I would see even more results if I was able to take two capsules, but I am very happy with the current results.
The Equate Capsulest ENTERIC-COATED Intestinal Comfort* Dietary Supplement with purified peppermint oil has helped me get through some tough days and nights. While I was on vacation I eating very rich and spicy foods. To say my stomach was upset was an understatement. The Equate intestinal comfort supplement helped me feel so much better. I'm so glad I remembered to pack it. It helped ease my bloating, gas and diarrhea. This will be a staple when I go on vacation. The green soft gel made it easy to swallow.
I got the Equate brand Intestinal comfort pills. These pills are basically peppermint oil for things like bloating, gas and acid reflux I believe. The box says to take an hour before a meal which I think is the hardest part to remember. So if I remember to take I think it does a decent job. I would not say it is a cure all, but at this point I would try anything. I do not notice any smell or taste with taking these. It says to watch what other medicine you take this with so it doesn't mess with the effectiveness, so that is something to remember. All around for the price I think this is a good basic to have around the house. It comes with a decent size bottle and good to have I feel like. You can look up the benefits of peppermint oil which is the main ingredient in this thing. I like that equate has an economical brand that is good on price for this type of product. This is worth a try if you like the peppermint for your stomach
I'm not 100% sure about these softgels. They definitely help but not as much as other products. I try to take them as directed but it's not always easy to get them in three times a day 30-90 minutes before a meal. I do like that the active ingredient is Peppermint oil. I will continue to take them and see if there is any additional improvement.
I like that the soft gels from Equate Intestinal comfort doesn't give a chalky taste like other brands. Easy to swallow gels with peppermint oil. I am a little more gasser than usual and it took awhile for them to kick in. But Eventually it worked. My stomach cramping is gone and the bloat issues I felt has ease up. I would recommend for at least a month use if you want to see results.
I personally can't use this after several attempts to try it. The caplets are of a very hard and thick rubber like substance, that does not digest so expect to see it when you go to the bathroom. I cut one open to see the thickness ( pictures posted ) the content was of a strong odor that you could even just smell it in the house. On the health side of it after about 30 to 45 minutes of taking it there was such a nauseated feeling each time I tried it, it was just to much it worked the opposite of what it was to be used for.
