This product worked very good for me. I was skeptical at first seeing the one star review on here. But happy i made my own assessment. I had a stye on my upper eyelid, inflamed, swollen, itchy, and sore.. I would do hot compress for five minutes the put on about a pea size amount of the ointment. Its best to lay back, close yours eyes and relax. But i did this about three to four times a day. Especially before bed. Two days later and no more stye. The ointment helped take away the itching which was the worst. Takes about 5 minutes or so to work. But i am happy and pleased with this product.
Unlike many others who have used this product for actual styes, I've been using this product for years and prefer it to the name brand stye ointment as I use this for my chronic dry eye, I use it for moisture as I'm constantly having to remoisturize around my eyes as well as inside my eyes. I've never had an actual Stye but suffer from a variety of eye problems including chronic dry eye's and I prefer this product as it's consistency is rather more liquified and easier for my skin around my eyes to absorb, the name brand ointments are thicker and I've never been able to get any of them to absorb properly and they all seem to cause extreme blurry vision due to the consistency of the ointments added ingredients and percentage of petroleum is higher than the mineral oil. The name brand Stye ointment and the Equate brand Stye ointment say the exact same percentage amounts on both mineral oil and petreloeum but their thickness and consistency are not alike, the name brand is thicker and not as easy to absorb compared to the Equate brand that's easily absorbed and doesn't cause extreme blurry vision. Eye ointments for extremely dry eyes and the name brand stye ointments are to thick for me and do not work. 2004 is when my horrible unfortunate eye problems began and have increasingly gotten worse over the years, when I found Walmarts Equate version of the Stye ointment and tried it, I was automatically hooked and relieved when I found that it's the only product that has worked for me in this ongoing horrible eye issues I've had. Only thing I've noticed is that this is not available to purchase in bulk online and when I asked associates when they will be getting more in at my local Walmart they cannot say when this particular item will be back in stock and I've yet to speak to the manager about pre-ordering in bulk. I'm unable to use many moisturizers for eyes as I'm allergic and sensitive to many products so along for the use of actual dry eye, I use this product daily in my eyes as well as all around my eyes to moisturize my poor extremely dry eyes. This product has been a part of my daily and nightly eye regimen for over 5 years and I hope they never discontinue it. Wal-Greens once had their version of Stye ointment and then discontinued it, my only choice was to begin buying the name Brand Stye ointment which is more expensive, up until I found Walmarts version of Stye ointment. I can use up to 3 or 4 tubes in one month of this stuff depending on my need and depending if I have really bad flare ups which cause me to have to constantly repeat applying my eye drops and eye ointment, so price is extremely important not to mention for me it's the only thing that's been working for me. When it's in stock I will buy every single tube and there have been times when Walmart will be completely out of it and weeks without any in stock! Felt I should finally give my review for others out there who are suffering from similair eye issues as I do and for others out there just to know a bit more why I gave this product a 5 start rating!
"Equate" is considered to have been doing a good job when it comes to producing the same quality products at lower prices. However, of many products by "equate" sold at Walmart, the product marketed as "sterile Lubricant Stye Ointment" " is found the WORST. Unlike that of your competitor's "Stye", this product drizzles, flows out of tube by itself without being pushed, and does not stay well on the skin. Furthermore, it is detrimental to clear vision as it enters the lower eyelid to blur the vision. This product is not exactly the same in quality, not equitable to your competitor's. The manufacturer of this product should focus on improving its product quality by making it harder and stable on the skin around the eye.
