I have 1 year old twins (boy and girl). I use this gate to keep them from falling down the steps and also use it to make sure they stay in their room at night time. This gate works as stated. My daughter pulls on the gate and it does not fall. it is very sturdy and locks into place. If you have woodwork that expands outward I would not recommend this gate to you. This is because it is difficult to lock the gate in place due to the uneven wall. However, if you are not effected by that, I would recommend this gate to all parents that are looking for an inexpensive gate to maintain their child's safety.
I needed two gates for each door to my kitchen, but I can only afford one swing gate right now. So I got this one just to block off the other entrance. It took less than a minute to read the instructions and put it up. My 1 yr old son came right over and gave it two little tugs and it didn't budge, so he left. Very happy so far. It's taller than I thought..my son shouldn't be able to climb over this for quite a while and you can always put it a few inches off the floor since it's pressure mounted. Although, I can walk over it fine which is good, but I am 5'8.
I bought this gate along with a top-of-the-stairs baby gate. I simply took it out of the box, snapped the handle on and locked it into position in the living room. It was SOOO easy. It has a snug, yet very sturdy fit. I am thinking about buying another one of these to use for another room. It's height is high enough to act as a gate, but low enough that I can just step over it. I'm 5'3". I think if you are shorter than that, then you'll have a problem stepping over it.
We ordered this gate to use in my 9 month old's doorway. He has started crawling and we needed something to contain him in his room where we knew he was safe (no door). It works great and is easy to put up and down. We have a little trouble getting it tight because the door frame is not level, not Evenflo's fault though!
This gate gets tighter than any other pressure mounted gate I've ever seen. It works perfect for us! Our daughter is pretty strong, and I was worried that she would be able to knock down a pressure mlunted gate (I've seen some flimsy ones!) but this one is very easy to tighten, and I know that she wont be able to knock it down. Other gates I have seen have special notches that you need to fit into, but this one will lock at any width. Is great if you would like to move the gate occassionally.
I got this to keep my dog from going downstairs without my knowing. It has done the trick. While it took me a few days to get used to how it works, I have it down now and am pleased with it. Reasonable and doing the job.
I like the way when you go to lock the gate in place, it adds tension to sides, making it harder for the child to move it. It seems very sturdy
Not much to say here, It works well for areas that need to be temporarily gated, easy to remove once you get used to the pressure latch. Good gate. I'll give it 5 stars if It works trouble free for a couple years.
We needed an extra baby gate to block various doorways from our toddlers. We purchased this at our local Walmart. When I got it home, I could tell that it had been previously purchased and returned, but everything looked like it was in perfect order, so we kept it. After using the gate for awhile, I found out why the prior purchaser had returned it: these gates are extremely hard to close. You have to hold the gate up, extend both sides, and then force down on the lever and locking button all at the same time. I am going back to using the other types of baby gates we have in the future.
I've never had a more difficult baby gate to deal with. I bought this oppose to the wooden ones, because dogs couldn't easily chew through it. It bends way to easily and it's really difficult to get the gate adjustment size set. I will be returning this gate and getting a wooden framed one like I have used in the past.
