The product is good!
I purchased this headgear for boxing. My friend and I do some light sparring (before we plan on intensifying our workout), and we always use it no matter how soft or how hard we intend to hit each other. We also have mouth guards and hand wraps. It fits pretty well and can adjust to fit almost any adolescent and/or full-grown adult. However, the fitting isn't perfect. The openings for the ears may not reach everyone's and the chin strap will not cushion any uppercuts. It's there to keep the headgear in place. The padding around the cheeks is thick enough for the nose not to show outside the headgear, but it doesn't protect it from being hit with a straight, clean shot. The padding for the back of the head inside the headgear is somewhat like a small pillow. Also, a punch can turn it slightly (especially once you start to sweat a lot), and you'll have to reposition it. This headgear makes you learn how to keep your eyes on your opponent...because there is almost no peripheral vision when wearing this. Overall, for the price, it's worth it. Word of advice: Anyone weighing 125 lbs. or higher should be wearing at least 16-oz TRAINING GLOVES...NOT bag gloves...NOT grappling gloves...TRAINING GLOVES. Having this headgear does NOT mean that you and your sparring partner may beat each other to a pulp. This is to merely "cushion" the blows. This doesn't mean that you can allow your partner to hit you as hard as you can and have yourself end up with a concussion --- I learned that the hard way...literally.
It's easy to soften up the face and chin areas, but the head area is too tight. It's so tight that the velcro, at maybe 75% tightness, is still loose even when the back padding is stretched all the way. Maybe the rubber band for the ones I got came tighter than normal, or maybe it needs more use to start loosening a bit. Still, it gets annoying after a few minutes. This is my only beef. The padding and everything else protects very well. Tested it on my 15 year old daughter as well, just in case my head was extra, extra large compared to most.
Great price, but to tight and not adjustable.
