This is exactly what I wanted. I didn't want a heavy bag hanging from a beam in my son's room (we don't have a basement) nor did I want the extra attached platform that most sporting goods stores were selling (this was big enough). It was easy to put together (a must for us). Right now we have an 80 lb. bag but you can hang up to 100 lbs. The price was also better than most sporting goods stores. Very happy.
I just got this for christmas to replace my old stand that has seen better days. I have used many different styles of bag stands and hangers and I (in just 6 days) have decided hands down this is one of the best I have used. I'm 6'1" and about 298#'s and it takes my punches like a champ by it self. I did have to add weight to the provided weight arms for when I started kicking though (I added about 150#'s to the front legs it is designed to accomidate the 1" weight plates not the olympic size ones). I do have it maxed out with a 100# bag and it holds it very well. I believe that this stand will last at least the ten years my last one did. THANKS EVERLAST for once again making a great reliable product and THANKS WAL-MART for providing the best price in town.
You will most definately need to stack weights on this so that it does not shift around--I am 5'2" and put a 100 pound bag on it.......just messing around and hitting it, the front base legs were shifting around............once I put weights on it----it should be fine........ THIS IS A VERY BIG ITEM..........I was placing it in a shed, under a loft area........well, it didn't fit--it is over 7 feet high..........and takes up a good bit of space............
This was an excellent value, but the directions are horrible. The parts are not labeled, yet the directions refer to labeled parts. It suggests you put it together in an order that makes you have to assemble and re-assemble many times, so don't tighten the bolts all the way until all the parts are in. But my real problem was actually getting a heavy bag to hang on this thing. The chains are so high, unless you can easily lift an 80-100 lb bag, you have to do a lot of work to get the bag to hang on the chains. I prayed, then scooted the heavy bag onto a chair sideways. Then I moved the heavy bag around until I could maneuver it right side up. Then I hung it while the bag was still on the chair, then I slowly removed the chair. After putting this together, pulling it a part, putting it back together, and trying to get the darn heavy bag on, I felt like I had been playing football for hours. But maybe that was the point?: to give you a good workout. Too bad I have no energy and am too sore after putting it together to use it for a while. If you can find someone to help you that would be a plus--both for strength and just maneuvering parts. Lastly, this thing is big, but I was able to get it in my smaller study that has a desk and twin bed in the room and it is not so big that it over powers the room. I also have the pink punching bag on it, and my study/extra bedroom is pink and brown, so it all looks cute and not like an "eye sore."
Overall, the Everlast Bag Stand meets our expectations. We will say that when assembling the bag stand, it is VERY important to keep the bolts loose so the final assembly goes together properly. If bolts are tightened too early, it will look like the last few bolts are off by inches. All-in-all, good value for the price.
Awkward to assemble- tubing is not stamped consistently and one of the bolt heads was not cut making it impossible to tighten. Appears to function when using an 80 lb bag, although weights are necessary for stability. Best to try and hang from ceiling if at all possible.
The product assembled very easily and the instructions were good. The product is good for a workout but would not be good for a Serious Boxer or MMA Fighter. Even with weights added there is considerable sliding on the floor if the punches or kicks have a lot of force behind them. Defiantely performs well for the low price though.
well lets see bought as a gift for someone was missing bolts and parts were dented and bent. only thing walmart could do was to send it back wait for refund then order it again and wait 2weeks for it again. so had to go the right bolts to put together and product isnt even stable but at least my friend still had a gift for her b-day.
I bought this stand all excited to use it. When it came in, the base where defected so I had to send it back and reorder a second stand. Sadly the second stand came in just as poor quality as the first one did. One of the pieces was warped and the paint was chipping off. It was just really poor quality overall.
This was the worst thing I have ever gotten through online ordering. It was rusted in places, missing parts and bend. On top of it all it doesn't even hold the bag in place all that well. I have to purchase weights to go on it and I am only five feet tall. I should not be moving an entire bag. I would NEVER pay for this item again and do not advise others to order.
