it that it helped my husband trouble shoot the volts in his car battery was putting out. It's small and easy to fit in the glove compartment to keep in your vehicle. The wire lenth is good for helping you keep a save distance also. My husband looks forward to using this when redoing the electrical in our shed.
Received today and tested on one of my scooter batteries . meter seems better built then similar ones . i like the fact that there's no battery slid out for 9 volt battery included . you have to remove the back cover to install battery by removing 2 screws , no cover to fall off . it is easy to read even in sunlight . the wire leads fit tight into meter and probably not fall out . my only beef is contacts to test what ever your using it for are stubby as in photo . might make it harder to test certian things but also provide protection in some circumstances .
This EverStart Value CAT III 300 Volt Digital Multimeter works very good. At first I thought it was not working, but I think I was measuring a bad item. When I tried on the battery (photo attached), it worked just fine. I am looking forward to checking out a whole box of batteries that I collected through the house (I have several kids and batteries are always taken out of the item, and not thrown out, or taking out of the box and put into an toy, but then they lose them). This way, I can see which of the batteries is actually working, and throw out the other ones. I am very happy with this item, and it was my first time trying it out. It has many settings on it, as you can see on the picture. Would definitely recommend.
First thing I did was insert the 9v battery, retrieved another (slightly used) 9V and tested it. It tested about the same as it did with a different type tester. Being some what ignorant to what the reading should be for other testing, I took the EverStart Digital Meter to a friend's electrical shop. He first opened it to inspect. He was formulated with inside parts and the makers. Doing different test on different electrical gadgets, he was impressed. The alternate current was not a successful test but he said "I" would never need it anyway. The leads also have covers that are easily removed if needed. On a professionals word and my observarion, I recommend this unit. I was unable to video or take pictures during the testing since my phone is broken and my bid Billy tabled requires wifi. However, I managed to take a pic at home using the leads like chopsticks.
electrical point leads are a tad short. one can not insert the probes into a standard wall outlet and make contact with the power connectors. the plastic shouds are too long and the metal probes too short. lol. great example of an engineers lack of real world testing. :\
The manual lacks guidance for the novice user like me. Small things such as connecting the cables is not included. I had to utilize YouTube just to test it out. Overall, I would say, this isn't a tool for the inexperienced user. If you're familiar with multimeters and their function, this will work for you.
This digital multi meter unit is perfect for household use, the digital screen is easy to read and fairly easy to use! My husband whom is an electrician, says it's perfect for around the house use, not a bad little unit! You do have to unscrew and take off the whole back to put battery in, but I figure it makes it more secure and you dont lose the battery cover! Really liked the pull-off covers on the leads so with covers on it can be used in tight spaces without touching each other! I would recommend this to people for at home uses! It's a nice little meter!!
I received my Everstart Multimeter from the Spark Reviewer Program. This is a Cat III 300V digital multimeter. It comes with the safety test leads, a 9-volt battery, and the manual. This digital multimeter is used for measuring AC and DC voltage, DC Current, batteries, and diodes. This handheld unit measures only about 5.5", very compact. We used it to test our car batteries. Had no issues. Took only a couple seconds to get a readout, worked perfectly fine. I would say this is a pretty universal gadget. It can also test your 1.5V and 9V batteries. So far we're pretty satisfied with our Everstart Digital Multimeter and would recommend to anyone.
I received this item at no cost as a spark reviewer. The multi-meter is perfectly fine. If you know how to use one this will get the job done. It came with a 9v battery which is good. I took off one star because you need a screwdriver to open it up and install the battery. I would much rather it just have a little battery door. I tested several batteries, known good and known bad, and it was as accurate as my more expensive meter. It feels cheap but not flimsy if that makes any sense. Some extra fuses (250mA/300V & 10A/300V) and a little area to store them would have been appreciated but one cannot complain at the price.
Well, I am asked to always write an honest review, so here it is.. Very cheaply designed and constructed. Fragile plastic. Although, I was surprised that it came with a battery and the lead caps.. For all the "switch" positions, it doesn't do much and I couldn't get it to read correctly, compared to my Fluke. Don't be lured by the cheap price, you are getting what you are paying for.. Really, paying too much.. Pro's: Cheap. But you get what you pay for. Lead caps/protectors. Con's: Cheaply constructed. Doesn't function all that well. Not reliable.
