This Expert Gardener fencing is really good! I will definitely buy again. Strong, durable and with being zinc/galvanized coated, lasts a long time without rusting outside in the elements. The 14 gauge wire is a bit thicker than others I have used, and thus is standing up better. Still, it is easy to cut to size. The 2" wide by 4" high mesh is prefect for keeping the deer and rabbits away from my freshly planted apple and chestnut trees. The height is great too, as it will keep both the little and big critters at bay. It is proving to be very durable, easy to use and most importantly, doing the job I need it to do. Overall, very, very pleased.
This wire was great. We decided to make a catio so our indoor kitty could go outside safely. We debated using the 2 by 4 wire for the entire caging, but people who made these in the past told us we needed smaller wire on the sides to prevent predators. We did use this on the top and it"s perfect. The 2 by 4 wire is heavy duty. Anything that tries to get in that way will not be able to penetrate it. The 14 gauge is thicker than I thought it would be. We plan to make another and use the remainder to put around a small garden area. It cuts easily with the correct tool. We used a pair of heavy duty wire cutters. These are necessary to cut this wire. This is a great heavy duty wire and is the right size for many projects.
The box says "HEX" fence, but that is inaccurate and should be ignored, the fence is truly a mesh fence with 2 x 4 inches openings. That is rather big for chickens so we are not using it for them, but outside of their area and in the back of our property where we have hedges so that this coming winter we can put burlap up to protect them from the winter winds and snows. Last year we just used garden sticks, and they collapsed against the wind and snows, so we were looking for an alternative when this fencing came up. Since the fencing is short, it is also stout and does not have to have T-posts along the line for support. Also, some wire was bent, that does not affect its use and is minor, probably happening during shipping. So far it is has held up well with all the rain and winds we have received so we are expecting this to last a while.
My plan for this fencing is to put it along the gates to our backyard. My chihuahua mix can slip through the slats and currently we have a hodgepodge of stuff keeping her in the yard. I’m not a fencing expert but this fencing looks and feels strong and durable. It isn’t easily bent or flimsy. If we have any left from reinforcing the gate, I’ll put it around our little garden. It will be perfect for climbing vines or beans as well as keeping the critters out. The fence arrived in good condition in a box with no damage. There was bubble wrap at the top to keep it from shifting during delivery.
You don't always find the highest quality with this brand, but this fencing is solid. Great heft, solid welds, this is a very heavy duty fencing solution. 14ga is heavy duty and not the easiest to work with, so make sure you purchase the size you need. Expert Gardener makes different levels and this looks like the strongest.
The Expert Gardener 3' x 50' Garden Fence is just what I need to beef up security around my bird and squirrel feeding area. I had used a similar product, but not as sturdy, at our previous home for the same purpose. This fencing, with generous 2" x 4" mesh openings will replace the flimsy chicken wire there now. I'll need about 34' to do the job, with the additional 16' to be used along the back of the pond to protect the frogs. Lots of predators come to visit, but this fencing is heavy duty, and galvanized to reduce rusting. Several green U-posts and some large shrubs will be used for support, and linesman pliers will make nice clean cuts. Starting one end at a post allows you to unhook the fence, forming a makeshift gate. The weather has been alternating between monsoons and mid 90`s temps with 100% humidity, so I`m waiting for a calm spell before I tear down and rebuild the area with the Expert Gardener 3' high fencing. They also carry green plastic fencing which I'm planning to use around the pond at night to protect against predators. Thanks Expert Gardener, this is a great product, and I will be looking at the rest of your fencing line to keep our critters safe.
This fencing is perfect, works great for a lite fence for my two dog, hands down the best affordable price.
Expert gardener mesh. I would definitely recommend this type of mesh fencing. We use it for the wood fence around the yard to keep my puppy in the yard. The squares are just small enough so she can’t get through them. It’s stout enough to keep her in and the deer out. And it looks really good with the word fence. Great product!
I cut off a section of the welded mesh and used it as a fence around my raspberry patch. It was very easy to cut off the required section. Just used pliers that had the wire cutter blade. I use aluminum poles to hold up the mesh/fence. In the fall, after the vegetables are all harvested, I will replace the existing mesh with this new mesh. I see lots of opportunity for the beans and peas to grow up the mesh. Bottom line - easy to work with, does what it is supposed to do with a minimum of aggravation.
I have not put this wire fencing up just yet, as I need to remove some old fencing around my garden first, to replace it with this, and I'll need help doing so. Suffice to say, I was impressed with it. It's very strong and sturdy- obviously built very well. I may purchase two more rolls, and double it up for a 6' fencing. I would recommend this fence.
