Not only did I use this around the garden as fencing, but I took the extra and cut into about 3 foot lengths and rolled into tomato cages. I could make different sizes by varying the length. It easily cut with lineman's pliers or any other pliers with a cutting edge. Then I clipped and bent a few of the sections at the bottom to anchor into the soil. The smaller spacing at one end is also useful to set up as fencing for chickens since the close spacing keeps baby chicks from getting through.
The package containing the garden fence was slow to arrive, perhaps due to Covid. However, everything about it has been an absolute delight! The package was heavy but I could easily carry it in my arms 50 yards without any assistance. And it was immediately used the very same day as it arrived. The fence was extremely easy to erect and went up very quickly in a matter of minutes. The construction is Galvanized Steel so it will Not rust, which is a huge plus since that first night we suffered the remnants of Hurricane Fay with torrential rains and fierce winds. We are mostly surrounded by woods, and are regularly visited by an array of wildlife including skunks, raccoons, wild turkeys, fox, coyote, a large variety of birds, wood chucks and the occasional deer. A domestic cat also wanders through our area. This fence came just in the nick of time to protect the many vegetable greens from critters, as you can see pictured in the attached photograph. It's well built and really sturdy. The size of the holes in the webbing are ideal for keeping large animals out. Once in the ground, it measures 25” from the soil line to the top of the metal fence. The fence was used construct a perimeter of 17' x 5' which contains the vegetable garden. You need to supply your own posts for supporting the framework. The fence has been up one week in Southern Maine as of July 17. No critters have bothered the garden to date. I would highly recommend this fence to help protect your garden against animal pests.
This came just in time for my vegetable harvest! It took maybe two minutes from the time I cut the packaging open till I unrolled the fence and wrapped it around my raised garden bed. I attached the two ends with zip ties and I was done! I am planning on using a good part of the fence for my deck. I will put it along the gap on the bottom where my smallest do has been jumping off after squirrels. I am going to attach this with my staple gun. I had a plastic version of this up in the past but it eventually cracked. This should last as long as I need it. Very pleased.
I recently received the Fence Roll , l will be putting in a small garden but l have alot of rabbits coming in and out of my yard so this product will be the perfect solution to keep out any small animals. This fence is galvanized steel so its corrosion resistance and this size is 24 height and 50 feet in length model number 342450
Keeping critters out of our vegetable gardens is a struggle every year. This galvanized fence has made it much easier. The local chipmunks, bunnies, groundhogs, and deer are munching somewhere else now. The galvanized metal fencing material is easy to cut with an ordinary wire cutter, and it's not difficult to handle. Because the fencing comes coiled, it was easy to wrap a piece of it around a pot (picture attached). I can't say that this fencing is decorative, but it isn't ugly. Bottom line: it's an effective solution to a perennial problem.
THE RABBIT GUARD FENCE ROLL is a 24 inch by 50 feet roll made of galvanized steel which is corrosion resistance. It has graduated spacing(smaller at the bottom) for maxium protection so the rabbits cannot squeeze through. When you first get it, unroll it and lay flat, so it will straighten out, and it will be easier to put up. Once you're ready to install, dig a narrow trench so the bottom of the fence is underground. Fill in the trench with dirt on both sides of the fence to secure the stability of the fence. The ends can be closed with wire ties or string(not included) or just overlap the ends a little. Posts at the four corners will also help to keep your fence from shifting. I found this fence to be much stronger than others I have used and with a large wild rabbit population in my neighborhood, it has been throughly tested.
I have a large variety of wildlife around me. The most troublesome being armadillos. I set double door traps right against the fence rows. The armadillos crawl along the fence and walk right into the traps. Rabbits obviously are completely unable to get through the fence. I place metal stakes every 6 feet or so, and use tent stakes to secure the areas between. Problems solved!
I decided to use the rabbit fence as tomato cages. I couldn't be more impressed. The metal is sturdy and still you're able to work with it (cut, bend). I could see myself using these tomato cages for years to come. The height is perfect, good quality and overall I am very impressed. They hold up bush-type tomatoes very well. I made 7 decent size cages and have enough left to make 2-3 more.
It is a bit soft which does make it easy to shape and handle but also makes it tend to break if the same bends need to be made after straightening it our for storage if its being used seasonally. If you are putting it up and leaving it up year round its a great choice. Easy to use and sturdy does a good job at keeping the critters from the garden or creating a temporary barrier. I used a piece to block off the stairs on the deck while I replaced a few boards on them.
Use this for the edge of the garden to keep the rabbits and ground hogs from eating our veggies. Overall the fence is nice and sturdy and was packaged well. I took away one star due to some of the wires being bent beyond belief. It made it hard to unwind. I also wish it was a bit taller. I would recommend this product to a friend due to the fact that it does its job and is a good material. No creatures in our garden!
