The Expert Gardner power coated steel fence u post is really easy to create the perfect fence around any garden. The four foot post are the perfect size to create an easy fence around anything. The post have foot pegs at the bottom that helps staking them in the ground. Once you have the post set where you want them, it's time to attach the fencing. The hooks on the front of the post secure any wire fencing or even plastic fencing to attach to all four post and you are all set. They were really easy to work with and the coating on the post prevents any early rusting
I got 4 of these and decided to surround my tomato plants with chicken wire (I have several local rabbit families that would love some fresh tomatoes) using these posts as support. They all worked well. The green powder coat finish seems very durable and reasonably pleasing to the eye. Each post has a series of round holes along the length as well as several stamped hooks (3 facing up and 3 facing down) to hang your fence wire in place. Even though they are not heavy, their shape provides very stable support once they're driven in the ground about a foot or so. I just used a hammer to drive them in the ground but I found that if you encounter a rock below the post the light construction causes the hammer to roll the top edge some. Not a big deal, really. I just pulled the stake out and re-located it to an area where I hoped there were no rocks under the dirt and hammered some more. It didn't really affect how the posts went in. These are a great deal for light duty fencing like chicken wire or maybe staking viney plants. All in all I am very satisfied with them.
These fence post are plenty sturdy, but at 4 feet in height, they would not deter deer. But for protecting you garden from small animals such as rabbits, raccoons and the like, they are excellent. Also good for creating a trellis on which vines can climb. They can be hammered in or driven in with a fence post cap or post driver. Good powder coat finish will keep them from rusting for quite a while. Fence wires or mesh can be hooked onto the tabs or attached with zip ties. There are "wings" about eight inches from the bottom that help stabilize the post in the ground. All in all, a good product.
This post is perfect for my intentions. The grand babies love the inflatable pool, so do the dogs. The dogs nails put holes in the pool so, I had to figure a way to allow me to see the children but keep the dogs out. This is exactly what I need. I put up 4 corners and put rolled hog wire around them. The wire fits in the hooks on the post. When I need to cut the grass I just unhook the wire cut and put the wire back.I bought 4 more post to make it a little more sturdy but when summer is over I'll pick up everything, pack it away and take it out next year. Great product
Been having problems with rabbits in the garden. anyone who gardens knows that sometimes critters such as rabbits, squirrels and other critters can be a problem. They love to nibble on veggies and even flowers. I used 4 of these Expert Gardener Powder Coated Steel Fence U Posts to create a barrier to keep them out. The posts are easy to use, and easy to affix your choice of fence material. In my case, I chose to use bird netting as I've covered my blueberries with it and it helped. The netting affixed very easily to these posts, and the posts stay straight in the ground. They're sturdy and the light green color blends well with the garden. If you look closely or pinch the photo you can see the black bird netting. It's been 6 days now and the rabbits have been deterred. Our security camera proved it. It was nice to see that the rabbits couldn't get near our tomatoes and they didn't seem happy as they hopped off. They came back a few times, but, they just give up. Very happy with the posts since we have a decent sized tomato garden as you can see in the photo. If you have problems like this in your garden, I highly recommend using these posts. They're easy to put in the ground and you can use a variety of netting or fencing for your needs.
These fenceposts are lighter weight but as sturdy as the other fenceposts I used I drive these into clay soil after a rain using a wood block to protect the top and a small hand sledge hammer. They went in well and stayed sturdy. Hooking fencing to these was very easy and quick with the little hooks cast into the posts. These are easier to handle and install by myself than others and they go into the ground easily.
I highly recommend these steel post. I use these every summer in my garden as tomato, pepper stakes and also to make a horizontal string attachments to the post for vining plants, like sugar baby watermelons, to grow on. I have yet to wear out any of my steel post in the past. These steel post have a welded plate about one foot up from the bottom to hold the steel post up once you drive it into the ground. That is easy for me because I have a heavy fence post driver for use with any size post. About four firm taps and the post is down and stable in my hard ground. You could also use a heavy hammer at get the post down. Pros: and Cons: The light weight makes them easy for me to carry and handle. They are pretty sturdy but could possibly be bent with enough pressure or a whack to the center. So far I've not bent any. This is a cheaper alternative to using the heavy duty steel post which one of those, weigh at least as much as 4 of these lighter weigh ones. Painted with nice dark green paint. There are tabs pointing down along the post from the middle down and from the middle up, the tabs point up. The tabs are about 10 inches apart. Between the tabs are 1/4 inch round holes to use in case you need to secure something with wire or twine. One con is that the last tab is at least 6 inches from the top and at the top is the 1/4 inch hole. I would have like it to have a hole plus a tab at the top of the post. A big PRO they are much cheaper and come 4 to a pack. One other con which I really didn't mind, a few of the tabs at too close to the post and you may need to bend them out a bit.
Expert Gardener Powder Coated Steel Fence U Post. We have wood privacy fence around our property and some of the wood fence posts are rotting. Instead of trying to replace the wood posts I got the Expert Gardener Powder Coated Steel Fence U Posts to sink in next to the rotten wood ones so I can attach them to these steel posts for support. Thus I will save a lot of effort and expense to repair my failing or should I say falling wood fence. Pros: Sturdy construction. Painted well, should prevent corrosion. Posts have tabs for connecting barbed wire if you want. Posts have predrilled holes (what I will use to screw into my failing wood posts) that a screw will fit through. Good length for my needs. Easy to drive into the ground with a sledge hammer. Packaged\shipped properly and timely. Cons: Would have liked the posts to be made with a thicker steel if I was using for other purposes. Overall I am pleased with the Expert Gardener Powder Coated Steel Fence U Post and feel that they will meet my needs.
I received my Expert Gardener Powder Coated Steel Fence U Posts (4) as part of the Walmart Sparks Review program. The posts are light weight, making it easier to carry multiple posts at one time. As other reviews have mentioned, the green color blends in nicely with the garden and surrounding lawn. I used the posts to help support bean plants in my garden. The loose soil in the garden made it easy to drive the posts into the ground. Not having a rubber mallet, I used a sledge hammer with a piece of a 2 by 4 as a buffer. Unfortunately, this was not enough as the powder coating on the top came off and has started to rust. The metal flange near the base helps keep the post upright, straight and stable. Each post has tabs to hook chicken wire or any kind of web fencing material. On the top half of a post the tabs point up, and on the bottom half they point down. This holds fencing in place without any extra tie-ups. On all four of the posts I received, the top two tabs were bent back into the post. If my plants grow tall enough, I will have to bend them back with a screwdriver to fit in a string to support these plants.
Our neighbor's fence kept leaning more and more into our yard. He's a young guy and I knew that he wasn't going to fix it himself, so we needed a way to prop it up straight so it didn't fall all the way over. These posts did the job! We used four of them and hammered them into the ground as we held the fence straight. They seem to be holding up well, and now the fence is straight again.
