I bought this at the VA Med Ctr in CT. I used it a couple times-but then I had to do some major shredding,old bills and documents. I was surprised how efficient a job it had done shredding these documents. I did get it jammed a couple of times-but eventually it pulled through and worked ok. It did overheat and shut down-so I waited about 20 minutes for it to cool down. It is good that it has this interlock feature on it to protect the user. I recommend this Shredder P-45C to anyone looking for a good home shredder.
after using the product for several weeks I find it a great piece of equipment. Lesson the worry of identity theft, this shreds so thoroughly it is nearly impossible to put it back together. Shreds 4-6 pages with out difficulty, use the oil every 5-6 time you run a lot of paper and it just keeps on working.
I found thisFellowes product very efficient and worked for me at a time when I had a lot of documents to shed. The volume of shredded papes thatwere held in the botto basket was excellent and the speed in which the shredder worked was excellent too! I highly recommend this Fellowes shredder to anyone needing and excellent shredder!
I have tried several shredders and so far no one is equivalent to the P45C shredder. It is so easy to operate and I like the large opening at the top. The others I have tried are very difficult to insert the paper. The openings are too narrow. If I can find another P45C by Fellowes, please let me know because I will be your next buyer.
I've been using shredders for quit some time now, but I have never used a shredder that was as dependable as this one. It really will shred staples, credit cards and six sheets of paper at one time! It does have a reverse switch which, I might add, comes in quit handily at times. The shredder comes apart easily to empty and is safe with regard to cutting yourself when emptying. I would highly recommend and would purchase again if this one ever failed.
Love the cross cut for security; very stable, well built, reliable; auto on/off feature nice; can put 2-3 pages with staples at a time, no prob. Easy to empty. My only issue is the capacity of the catcher - if you're doing more than just a few pages (eg, cleaning out your home office once in awhile) the cut paper piles up right under the cutter, and you have to manually move the paper around to get it to keep cutting without jamming - or empty it frequently. While the top is easily removed, you can't move the top to something with larger capacity - will only work on the base that is supplied. Am searching for unit with large capacity without going to very expensive office grade. Also, per other comment, this unit is a little noisy.
i was disappointed with the shredder when i seet it up.The dimension were never given even though it gave its gallon amount. most people do not think in gallon sizes for a shredder. fellowes makes you think that it will work with only their bags which is not tr. it is very noisy.
I use this at home. It shreds one page ok but sure struggles when more than one page is being shredded. The auto start-stop function has failed so it always runs when turned on. This is a real nuisance since I can't just put a page in and have it turn on and off automatically. The manual doesn't indicate anything about fixing the problem. System over promised and under performs.

Will not shred more than one sheet of paper without getting jammed. I have bought the lubricating oil with the hopes that it would help, it didn't. Cutting credit cards are the worst. I need to use this product daily, but it's too much of a hassle, so I'm looking for something else. It is very noisy, nothing like the simple, cheap one I had before. The auto shut-off feature does not work. I has to be moved to the off position and the lock has to be enabled. I am very dissapointed in this product.
