I LOVE THIS SHREDDER!!! IT IS AWESOME!!! All shredders make noise. It is not loud like a Mack Truck so therefore, it is a noise that you can live with. It is fast and shreds sharp. It is great for the office and home. I have a lot of documents to shred at church and it has truly been showing off how great it is!!! I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT TO ANYONE!!!
After a few years, we wore out our first W11C11due to very heavy use. We chose to buy the same one, as the first one had performed so well for us. Also, the W11C11 Fellowes shredder has a smaller crosscut than most in that price range, making the information on the sheets we are shredding less able to be read. I think part of the "trick" to getting shredders to last is to not allow the container to fill up near the top. When it does fill up close to the top the paper doesn't flow through the cutters well and jams are more likely to occur. Jams are hard on the motor. I also think using a little oil every time you empty the container also keeps the shredder in peak working condition. We are a happy repeat customer.
A bulldog of a shredder for under $100. Shredded 10 years of personal files, 6 large trash bags. Fed in 5 - 7 pages at a time, staples, credit cards and all. Not one jam. Just had to empty the container often as it is small. Oiled often, also only fed it during commercials while I watched TV so as not to over heat it. Now that the hard work is done I hope this machine will last a while.
This model works very well. This is the first time that I have owned this brand. If i had to replace this model I would buy another. The only negative thing I would point out is the noise level of the machine and the small waste basket capacity. When you empty the container you have to be mindful because the small paper clippings could spill out. Overall I am pleased at the performance of the unit. I feel that the unit does an excellent job of shredding my documents securely.
Overall good. Good strong shredder easily handles 11 sheets of paper. Very competitive for the price. The only compliant I have is the size of the waste can feel it is too small. As a result you utilize a lot of trash bags and time emptying paper.
Got this shredder because it was time to clean out about 15 years worth of paperwork and throwing forms with personal information into the trash, even torn up, just isn't safe in these times. I unboxed the shredder, put it together, plugged it in and went to town on about a one and a half foot stack of forms, old pay stubs, bills and various other documents. This Fellowes shredder is loud. I wouldnt want to be in a small office hearing this thing run on and off all day but for home use, its not too annoying. It leaves behind tiny 1/2 inch strips which was sufficient for my needs. I had purchased a micro cut shredder years back that basically transformed documents into confetti and it jammed so many times in the first 15 minutes of use, I had to return it. Im happy to say this Fellowes shredder had no problems eating up just about anything I threw at it. Even a credit card and stapled forms. Its rated to shred up to 11 sheets. I pushed it to 9 or 10 sheets and that was enough to slow it down, but it pushed through. Even at that, I'm happy and I now have a lot more room in my file cabinet. Emptying the shredder was easy. The top lifts right off with the handle. I tried to use a plastic bag in the bin but the shredder saw it as the bin being full. I might have to try a different size. All in all, pretty happy with it and I got a great price at Walmart.com. If it was just a bit quieter, it would be perfect.
I love the new shredder. It takes a lot of sheets at one time. It has a wider opening for ease of putting the sheets in, It shreds in less time. It doesn't overheat! The glitch? Well, the switch for On/Off/Rev don't really move far enough apart. Sometimes it goes off because the switch doesn't really engage at the On. Wish they would fix that. Maybe it should be replaced?
I really like this shredder a lot. I also like the locking position on this shredder. This shredder has a larger paper bin than the one I had previously. It is suppose to handle 11 sheets of paper at one time, however, when I put in six sheets it seems to bog down quite a bit. I haven't tried 11 sheets yet but believe it would not be able to handle that much paper very well. Overall, I still like the shredder very much as it will handle the load I will put into it. I won't put more than 5-6 sheets into it at one time. Bill P
Very, very satisfied with this purchase. This thing munches paper like no other. Staples, thick junk mail, credit cards, you name it....this unit was "off the chain". I had mountains of old student loan stuff that I needed to destroy. This puppy was munching for 2 straight hours and never blinked. The only negative, and I could care less because I live alone, is the noise. It makes a lot of noise, but that just tells me she is working. I figured paying double what the normal shredders go for would yield me a quality product. And boy I was right. Don't cheap out on a $35 wimp that craps out after 12 months. Get this bad boy and there will be no buyer remorse. Thanks.
I didn't realize it is open on the top of the bin, at the front. (The black area) With that being open, it allows the machines motor to be heard more, so it is extremely loud. The noise factor is disappointing. Otherwise, I love the shredder.
