My 5 year old received this last Christmas from a family friend, and he loves it!!! This is very easy for him to use by himself, once I hook it up, he turns it on and off and uses it all by himself! It holds his interest for a long time and plays with it almost everyday still, even though he got it a year ago...we do not have any of the additional software, Christmas is coming though, but he still has a ton of fun with it!!!!

I found this product to be a great idea and entertaining product however I did feel it was overpriced a bit. It could have been priced about $10 less

My 5 year old just got this for a gift. He loves to draw and will get carried away and mark on my things. This has helped. He loves this thing. I have had no problems with it. He is more creative with this then with just paper and crayons. Thumbs up!! No problem with software.

Our 4 year old son loves this. It has helped to spur his creativity. The projects are great. It is very easy to use and he does not require any help from us in using it. Only problem has been with trying to shut it off. Have to shut it down by using the Task Manager in Windows. Need to correct that issue in the software. We are looking forward to getting some of the additional software titles and to getting our 2 year old daughter started on it.

Now to begin with, it actually took us a while to try and get this set up for our girls. We have an older computer down in their playroom for them, and we intended to install this on there as well. Well, it turns out that this product requires a computer with a rather intensive graphics card - something the girls' computer did not have. So the whole thing sat around for a while longer. Finally, it ended up on our main desktop computer because it has the necessary graphics capability to run it. At first, this seemed like a nuisance and I wasn't feeling very impressed in general. But then, we actually started using it… What we've discovered is that Fisher Price has come up with a really fun, easy-to-use way for kids to learn to draw on the computer. Instead of having to use the mouse to draw with (quite frankly something that even I have a difficult time doing), this gives them a realistic ‘pen and paper' type of feel. Here's how it works: The Fisher Price studio is connected to your computer with a USB cable. It ‘takes over' your computer while the connection is active and gives complete control to the pencil-like stylus. You draw with the stylus on the studio's workspace - pressing down on the workspace pad acts similarly to holding down the mouse button. You can choose options like pen color, drawing style and such by pressing the stylus into the other various buttons located on either side of the workspace pad. Everything that you ‘draw' shows up on the computer monitor as if you were using the mouse to draw with. The reason that this is so much easier than the typical ‘paint' or other graphics programs for kids is that it lets them learn the basics of drawing and designing on the computer - while retaining the feel of pencil and paper. Kids can easily move from using this studio to the more traditional drawing programs as they grow older and more capable with the computer mouse. The Digital Arts & Crafts Studio comes with many craft projects built right in. My oldest loves designing and coloring her own paper airplanes that can be printed out, folded and flown. You can also buy add-on software with additional graphics and projects for kids to do as well - we have a couple of those, and they love being able to draw on scenes from Fairytopia or Dora. Here are some specific reasons why I love this product. 1. It's easy to use - even my 2-1/2 year old has mastered 'scribbling' on it, and she loves being able to ‘work' on the computer just like Mommy and Daddy do. 2. No messy markers, crayons to get scattered or lost, or piles of artwork to figure out where to keep. You can save all of their masterpieces and just print out the ones that you want to display. 3. We have two computers in our home office - the desktop and my laptop. This is an awesome way for my kids to have fun, stay busy - and still let me get work done on my computer at the same time, in the same room. :) 4. It inspires kids to be creative - they want to try out all of the buttons and different options for creating their artwork or craft projects. 5. I like how the software 'takes over' your computer - and requires a password to be input in order for your own desktop to be accessed. That way you know that your kids aren't going to accidentally move or delete anything that you need on the computer itself. I think the only real negative is the hardware requirements - anyone with an older computer probably won't be able to use it, unless they upgrade the graphics card. And it is an expensive purchase - we bought it during holiday sales, so it wasn't too bad, but the regular price is definitely not cheap. Overall though, I think it was well worth it and we will be using this product for years to come, I'm sure. :)

We had no problem loading the software and getting the thing to start working, but it only works for about 5 minutes and then freezes up and you have to turn it off and back on again and start over. We have windows vista and our computer by far exceeds the recommended system requirements, I even did a test of the system profile and it said it was working properly. My 4 year old gets so upset when he's in the middle of a project and then has to start over. I'm returning this. Fisher price usually makes good quality products, but this one is no good. I would not recommend anyone buying. Better to let your child create drawings on artpad on your computer. Too bad, it seemed like such a neat idea.

This is a great idea and looks so cute, but it literally corrupted 2 computers when it was installed. it was a mess. we repaired systems and could run the program for about 5 minutes before fatal errors would pop up. then, we couldn't run anything else. it is not a good software program at all!!!!!

I am very disappointed in this product. While I was extremely excited to give it to my 5 year old for his birthday we have found the product difficult to use. The instructions on how to use the console are very vague and the website provided no extra information than was in the packaging. You press down on the pen when you want to "enter" on something. However, it seems many applications do not work very well. I can not enter into certificates, for example, the unit tells me "this applications has 6 steps" and then goes no further. This is the 2nd unit I have had, having taken back the first one as I couldn't get the on-off button to work. However, on getting the second unit I realised the on-off button doesn't really have an on or off position so you have no idea if you have successfully turned the unit on. You just have to wait a while and hope it loads. If it doesn't you press the button again and again wait to see. When doing dot-to-dot, you draw a line between dots by pressing down on the pen, when you lift the pen the lines you have drawn all disappear. Thus you are left with no drawing.- very disappointing for a child. I could go on and on but I won't. I may may be using this unit incorrectly but who would know as there is no "help" button. I wouldn't recommend this product as it is disappointing for a child!
