My 3 yr old granddaughter just loves this camera. I believe it is her favorite. She takes it with her all over and it's great because you can delete or print the photos. My 10 yr old granddaughter would even like one.
My daughter got this for her 4th birthday from her "Wonderful" Grandma. She was always trying to take the camera away from myself or even my husband to take pictures of herself and her sister (who is almost 3). So we dicided to recommend this for her birthday wish list. Both of them use it on a daily basis. It has held up very nicely. She takes pictures of everything and everyone. The camera has been dropped several times but it doesn't seem to have hurt it at all. It has been taken outside and dropped in the dirt and we were able to clean it off pretty easy with a baby wipe. The only down fall to this camera is the size of the LCD screen. I can't see what they have taken pictures of but it doesn't seem to bother them. They can see it just fine. I am getting ready to purchase the newer version of this camera for my other daughter's 3rd birthday. I think the main difference is that they made a bigger screen on it. Any kid that likes to take pictures or likes their picture taken will love this item. I do recommend buying recharging batteries so that there is no down time for the kids because they will use it a lot.
This camera is perfect for younger kids, and anyone that is rough on their stuff. We bought it as a 5th birthday present, and it has been a tremendous hit! It is great for the kids, because they can see the picture they just took on the LCD screen. And it is great as a parent to glimpse some insight into how our child is viewing the world, and what they see as needing a picture! You might want to purchase an extra memory card, but so far we have been happy with the storage available.
We gave this to our 3-year old daughter on her birthday - and she absolutely loves it! She's pretened to take pictures of us with just about anything she can - from calculators to small boxes, so we figured we needed to get her a "real" camera. The camera fits her needs exactly - the double-eyepiece makes it easy for her to frame what she wants, the buttons are pretty intuitive, and the double-handle makes it easy to hold. The LCD screen is pretty lousy, but to put one on a camera in this price range is pretty amazing - and it is clear enough to see the image, which is what she's really looking for. The picture quality isn't great, but it is what it is - a toy. I'd highly recommend this to anyone with a kid that shows interest in cameras.
I have 5 year old twin girls who constantly take over my digital camera. Now, they can snap and/or delete to their hearts content. These cameras are extremely easy to use (we hardly had to instruct at all) and come in our favourite colour, pink. The camera holds around 60 photos which is more than enough and it comes with photo software which can create some very cool slide shows with music and special effects. Highly recommend this camera.
I bought this for my 4 year old neice and ended up getting on for my 8 year old daughter. The pictures are a bit grainy but I love the fact that she can do it herself. Then we email them to friends and family its so easy. They love to take a ton of pictures and then when your done just erase and ready for more!
The quality of this camera is no where near as good as the Fischer Price I had as a kid, 20 years ago. But, here's a full review: The camera is VERY durable. It's even gotten a little wet and we've yet to see any damage from it. Drop it on tile flooring or down the stairs, and it will hold up just fine. She loves the autonomy of taking her own pictures, especially since I always have my camera out too. It is VERY easy for me to download the images to my computer, the usb cable is short (18" or so), but as long as you have usb connections in the front of your CPU, it's not a big deal. My complaints: The shutter speed is WAY too slow, considering the age group it is marketed to. I'm attaching 2 pictures (without editing or reducing resolution). They are blurry! And at such low-resolution that I think even my 3 year old is a little disappointed that her pictures aren't as nice as mommy's, even when she does everything right. Resolution is permanately set to the 70-80kb. If they could just double that, images would be much nicer. If I had to guess the shutter spead, I would estimate it to be at 1/30 or 1/60 at absolute best. The shutter release button is a bit difficult for a 3 year old to reach while looking through the view finders, but not impossible. She just has to pull it away from her eyes, find the button, keep her finger on it, then bring the camera back up to her eyes. If it were just a little smaller, it would be better for her barely 3-yr old hands. ******************** SUMMARY: ~SHUTTER SPEED TOO SLOW (1/60 at best) ~IMAGE RESOLUTION TOO LOW (70-80kb) Both of these cause extremely blurry and grainy images ~SHUTTER RELEASE BUTTON HARD TO REACH while looking through the view finder ~VERY DURABLE ~ENCOURAGES CREATIVITY AND INDEPENDENCE ~EASY TO DOWNLOAD IMAGES ~CAMERA HOLDS ABOUT 70 IMAGES WITHOUT A MEMORY CHIP (which are sold seperately) ~FLASH NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO ILLUMINATE DARK ENVIRONMENTS ************************* My 3 year old took these pictures. Being less than 3 feet from a subject causes glare (the flash goes off with each photo, regardless of lighting conditions). Also, even if she and her subject are standing perfectly still, the image is still too grainy to really print.
I would rate this product as "Just Okay." My 4 year old was very excited for her first camera. She loves it! Yes, it is easy to use; yes, it is very durable; yes, the 2 eye holes are a great idea for kids. BUT, The screen on the back is VERY small and very hard to see the pictures through. I was very disappointed with the resolution, but for a kid maybe it is okay.
