My 5 year old daughter got this a couple days ago and she has played with it everyday. And at this age, that's important! I buy her reams of printer paper to draw on because she draws all the time and with this she can draw and watch it disappear and start all over again! We bought 2 extra sets of stencils and they are wonderful also, so many images! And it comes with batteries so you can play with it right out of the box.
This was a gift for a young grand daughter. She saw this item and requested it for Christmas. I could only get one by ordering from Wal Mart. Upon receiving the gift, she has spent hours playing with this item. The Fisher Price Light Sketcher was a good price, and it appears to be an good crafted item. This item is serving its purpose well. I am grateful that Wal Mart had this item in stock. I tried 2 different stores, and neither had the product and did not expect to receive shipments. Ordering this item was simple and it worked good for me.
My three children absolutely love this product. I will suggest this item to my family and friends. The only thing that could be improved upon is the time it takes for the drawings/sketches to fade. My girls wish it would last a minute or two longer when they are trying to draw multiple items that cover most of the drawing surface. We also purchased four extra stencil sets. Our family has only had this for a few days. So far, it is really a wonderful, creative toy.
The stencils that come with the sketcher are too small to really see a good picture, but for just regular drawing, it does a good job.
I bought this for my 3yr old who loves to draw. The board erases too soon and the marks aren't very dark. You have to draw very slowly to make a good dark line. I also don't care for all the buttons constantly flashing. All in all, I wouldn't buy another one and it's not at all what it seemed like in the advertising
Wasn't really sure what to expect with this toy, only that my 4 (almost 5) year old daughter REALLLLY wanted one for xmas. It's a neat concept, but the images produced by the light are a bit slow to develop and slow to disappear. I had assumed it had a screen where the images stay lit, and then "erase" automatically when you wanted it to...(via a button or something). The stencils are awfully small and even though there is a slot on the toy to put them in, there is no cover or "door" to cover the slot, so they are constantly falling on the floor like a deck of cards. I guess I would rate this higher for the unique-ness, but I can tell this is going to be one of those toys that doesn't get played with nearly as much as I had hoped.
I would not recommend this product. My children love the magna doodle, so we thought this would be just as much fun. My children will pull it out for maybe 5 minutes and get bored with it. The drawings fade within secs. and the pictures don't show very well at all. I was very disappointed with this product. Just stick with the good old Magna Doodle.
My 5 year old received this for a birthday gift. She's very interested in drawing with this product, but the pen does not light up or draw. We went to the store for an exchange, but the particular Wal-mart we went to did not have this product. We will probably get something else with the money
I bought this item for my 4-year-old daughter because she wanted it and it seem like a great toy, but I was really dissapointed. The pic fades away too fast that by the time she would be done with her drawing half of it would be gone already. To make matters worse, the light pen stopped working on the second day after use and since we had thrown the box away all we could do was call fisher price. Well they said they would send me a everything I needed to send it back and I would get a $30 goft certificate, but that never happened. Just save your money, and spend on a cheaper item but better quality like a Doodle Pro.
I have never regretted buying a toy for my daughter until the day i purchased this item. First, the drawing does not last long enough to see the finished artwork. Second, after just a few weeks, the pen did not even write clear and now it sits in a toy box untouched. I was very disappointed with Fisher Price because I have always bought their products. I hope not to be again.
