My 13 year old daughter and friends love this little camera and underwater case a lot. She and her friends play with it in the pool and make lots of fun movie clips. Qucik and easy to use and air tight. Just make sure to remove the camera strap before enclosing it in the case or it will not fit properly.
I purchased this to allow my wife to video me from the water while I was surfing. The only limitations are in the camera itself. this case is totally water proof and it floats, that is a big thing for me. The case also cuts down on wind noise. there is no distortion to the picture. Sometimes the lense clouds up due to condensation but that goes away as soon as you open the case. I should point out don't do that while your still in the water. anyway, go buy this thig if you have a flip video you will not be sorry.
THIS CASE HELD OUT GREAT UNDERWATER. THE CAMERA STAYED COMPLETELY DRY, AWESOME IDEA. CHECK OUT THE VIDEO.
A great accessory for a great product. I love that Flipvideo has such great accessories as this one to offer us who use the Flipvideo camera, and so reasonably priced too! I have attached this accessory to my camera with ease but haven't given in the "water proof test" yet (that will come in Sept), but I am thrilled at the prospect of doing so. It is durable and fits snuggly on the camera.
Quality seems really good for my purposes. I won't be doing any diving so I won't know if it's as waterproof as it claims. I only bought it to protect the camera while I hunt or in the rain. It's very expensive for what you get but, if you need it, you need it. The lens cover looks to be glass but the viewfinder cover is plastic and easily scratched. Bad design in that area so be aware of that when you wipe it or need to clean it. The tail of your shirt or a paper towel will do permanent damage.
Just as it says.. it keeps the water out. We used our flip underwater case on a recent vacation. It went out with the scuba divers and with the snorkelers alike. Not a drop of water touched the flip. We used it on the beach as well to keep the sand and water out. I thought it would be difficult to operate the flip with the case, but I was wrong. Not a problem.. Great Value, for not a lot of money, you have an underwater video camera.
This was a gift for my 11 year old daughter. She had it turned on and recording before I could finish unpacking everything. Very simple to use and appears to be solidly built and stylish. The software is built-in. No CDs to install. The video quality, while not quite as good as a $500 Handycam, is still quite good. We got the underwater housing with it and should be fun for her in the pool (as long as I'm not in it). The small size is very handy and ensures she'll have it with her when the oppertunity arises. Great value for the price.
I purchased this for my husband after using our other camera for a lot of water shots. This will now give him the availabilty to take video in the water also. It's great for the beach since you can't get sand even in the controls. We haven't used it for underwater shots yet but would recommend this for anyone with kids! This product met all of the advetisers claims.
I just purchased this product and the Flip Ultra this week. On the Wal-Mart website, it reads that this underwater case is for the Flip Ultra. This is not entirely true. It is only good for the 1st Generation Ultra. I had to call tech support at Flip Camera to find this out. I ended up damaging my brand new camera to pry it out of the case. Now I have no underwater camera and my vacation to the Bahamas is in 6 days. -- The main reason I purchased it. Be sure you already have the 1st generation before purchasing this product!!!!!
The camcorder did not fit well into this case and water leaked and RUINED our camera!!! I had wedding day footage on this. HOWEVER---I went directly to FLIP and they are working to retrieve my video and promised to replace/refund EVERYTHING. So, don't buy this unless you really really really really have to.
