Like any foam product, it starts off firm (as desired) then loosens up a bit and become softer. Nonetheless, it's far superior to any inflatable alternative, and it holds shape better than most foam alternatives. I've used it for over 4 months now and it's still usable and useful (i.e. not too soft or flat). For cleaning, I cover it with 2 cases (pillow cases) and wash them regularly so I'll never have to worry about the foam getting dirty. Highly recommended over any similar product.

Bought this today and it does take a lot of pressure off the hemorrhoids. The opening isn't as large as a toilet seat, so it doesn't remove all bum pressure if that's what you're interested in. Pretty comfy overall, I'm happy with it
