Delivered on time and looks and works well in our high winds.
as described. appear to be good quality. larger than expected but for a 9' tall umbrella, the bigger, the better to hold the umbrella in place
I LOVE this stand! The design is really great to pour the sand in on the side; and there is the sturdy handle and wheel for easy moving. I highly recommend this stand!
The clearance I have available between the ground and the under table stable bar is 13 inches. I was so glad to have finally found an umbrella base that would fit. Listed at 12 inches in height. When it arrived I realized it is 12 and 3/4 inches in height. Thankfully I still have 1/4 inch to play with. Hayneedle please know that customers need and appreciate exact measurements.
In order to improve the grip of the compression ring, I installed a !/4"" X3"" Cotterless Hitch Pin purchased at Home Depot. The pin is easily installed by drilling a 1/4"" hole through the stand, with the wood pole in place, just below the compression ring--see picture
I LOVE THIS UMRELLA STAND...I USE IT IN OUR SWIMINGPOOL CLOSE TO THE BEACH.
Really? A plastic nut? And the stalk should go at least 18 inches up the pole. And the plastc seat for the pole pops up with a little wind. Not nearlly as stable as I expected when i bought what I thought was a heavy duty commercial quality unit. Buy something else. DF. Reno.
Recently purchased this item with the intent of filling it with water vs sand. The base leaks water as the cap cannot be tightened enough as there are only 1-2 threads. Also, the bolt used to tighten down the umbrella pipe has already rusted and leaves stains on the pool deck. Just no t a quality item despite the price.
I would not recommend this stand with wind. I live on a lake with good wind gusts. However, after putting the sand in, the base itself is not going to move. But our 11 ft. umbrellas all have been picked up by very small gusts and have broken! The stands & umbrellas are less than 6 weeks old! Problem is the stand stays put but it does not secure tightly around the umbrells pole. Also we ordered these in bronze and the white cap which is suppose to secure around the pole is bright white (very cheap looking) I didn't catch that in the shown pictures because they only show it in white & off-white with the cap on. I'm looking into options of returning all 3 stands now. Just remember ""you get what you pay for"" at this price I should have known better. I will stay with $200 plus stands!
If you use this stand alone, without a table to also support the umbrella, it will break within three years. The vertical plastic piece is not strong enough to support an umbrella day after day, as it gets pushed from side to side in the wind. Over time, the plastic will bend, the umbrella will tilt, and eventually the stand will snap. Good luck getting hayneedle to cut you a deal on the replacement...they offered me $15 off.
