I've bought fresh cranberries from Walmart for years, three 12oz packs at-a-time. I rinse them (all at once) in a colander, but TBH I've never found any that were dirty or spoiled... still, it's a good practice. I transfer them into a 3-quart pot, add 1-½ cups of water, and bring to a boil. While they boil, add ⅓ cup of Truvia (stevia-leaf, no-calorie sweetner) and 1 tablespoon of orange extract. When the cranberries are done "popping", lower the heat and let them simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and let cool for ½-to-1 hour (during this time, "taste-test" for s; rweetness and orange flavor; if needed add more of each). Once it's cooled, transfer to a container w/lid and refrigerate. I like to add 100g of the cranberry sauce to 114g full-fat cottage cheese (the cranberry sauce has a little less than 50 calories; the cottage cheese, 110 calories).
I didn't get any cranberries that I ordered and paid for. I have had little things missing before but just let it go..I need these cranberries for Christmas dinner.
Cranberries are crushed and leaking juice allover
These cranberries were lousy, ver half of each bag were mushy and spoiled. I had to throw away over half of them! Picture of some of them in my trash
These "fresh" cranberries were leaking upon delivery. More than 40% were burst, bruised or badly wrinkled. It's like theyvwere frozen, thawed, thrown around and then sold as fresh. Did get a refund thru chat, but don't have fresh cranberries.
If I could give less stars, I would. While cranberries are perishable, the don't go bad quickly, certainly longer than the 2 days I had them until I took them out to cook with them. Whoever shops for produce for Walmart pick-up could use a refresher course on how to pick the best produce , cause this wasn't it.
Fresh Cranberries are not fresh. Shopper should not have chosen them for me. They should not have been available for sale. Many rotten berries. Bags dripping with juices from the berries. Pure garbage. No expiration date on the packages (3). Not happy with this.
I bought 44 bags of cranberries this year for canning. I went with Walmart instead of where I usually buy them because of the delivery and price. I had to throw away almost 1/2 because they came both mushy/leaking and moldy in the bags. I couldn't return them to the store so of course wasn't able to be refunded. They truly need to LOOK at the produce before giving it for delivery orders. A few bags had only a handful of useable berries so I am glad the price was low. If possible it's a good idea to go somewhere else for fresh cranberries unless you can go in person and look at the bags yourself.
These were spoiled already leaking red everywhere when they were delivered this evening. Obviously had either been squashed non refrigerated or we're already rotten. Even at a discounted price not okay Walmart.
Both cranberry bags were dripping cranberry juice everywhere! The cranberries were completely mushy. Just a total mess
