After having my eye on this bag for a few months, my husband surprised me with it for our anniversary. I absolutely love it, plenty of room and easy to carry. I am all about a quality bag but refuse to spend thousands - the Melissa Satchel is such a classy, timeless bag and I am so happy to finally have one of my own!
I want to buy a melissa bag and are dwelling between this one and the new one. Read online that this one's quality is questionable then looked up the company, wiki says the company (parent company) is bought by a Hong Kong company back in 2011 and productions has been moved to guangdong China. I am a bit worried about the quality esp the zipper thing mentioned by everyone.
I fell in love with the wine colored Melissa satchel about 6 months ago. I waited for a couple of months to purchase it because it was a little out of my budget. I'm so glad that I decided to reward myself with this beautiful gem! I love this purse so much that I decided I need to purchase it in grey as well. Very pleased with the quality and functionality!

I bought this 3 years ago and I LOVE it, I have other bags but this is my daily carry. I got it in the slate,,,which I thought would be a grayish but it looks sort of brownish. SOOO much room, sometimes I tend to over fill because it carries EVERYTHING then I wonder why it feels so heavy and I clean it out and it's manageable again. It holds a lot but doesn't look like some of the dated "BIG BAGS" that I used to carry. I wish I could have it in every color...GREAT PURCHASE. No trouble with the zipper or handles. Craftsmanship is spot on, no issues after carrying it everyday for 3 years.
I've had good experiences with your products. The shoes, crossbody bags, The melissa tote, and now ...the Satchel. Only two suggestions? Bring the color SAND back and possibly replace the zipper with a magnetic closure. Along with the frye Tag hanging from the bags. It would be EPIC!
I love this bag! The leather is so nice. The handles are very sturdy. It's on the large side which is perfect for me. I can load everything in this bag! I like that the handles are sturdy and even when very full the bag does not sag. The dark brown is a beautiful color. The one negative is that it doesn't come with the hangtag like in the photo.
This is the best purse I have ever had, and for years I have been buying Coach, Michael Kors, D&B, D&G and etc. The design is timeless and can match a lot of outfits, from everyday Casual to a Dinner Date. The best thing about this purse is that it can fit my Ipad, my water bottle and my make up kit without looking like an overnight bag!
Pro's - great look, soft leather, really roomy inside. Holds everything I need with tons of room to spare. Have received lots of compliments on the bag. Con's - zipper not very smooth compared to a Coach, Dooney or Brighton and bag is a little on the heavy side.
Within a few weeks of purchase, the zipper ripped out on one end. Returned to store and got identical purse....and that zipper ripped too. I do not overfill my purse by any means. The bag is beautiful and practical and perfect in every way EXCEPT for the inferior zipper. I really loved this purse....but I'm not sure if I should try it a 3rd time. A 400 hundred dollar purse should not do this!!
