This is my 3rd pair of Frye boots. The first pair I wore for 25 years with a couple of resoles. I loved those boots and now I have 2 pair that I love also. The only thing I did not like was the slippery sole. I took them to the shoe repair shop and had rubber soles added.
I bought this boot in size 10 but it runs small so sent back to get in size 11. No issues with return; super quick and easy. The fit is absolutely perfect with socks. I can wear size 9.5 to 11 depending on the shoe and socks I wear. I love the smoke color; the boot has grey tones so perfect with grey and blue clothes which is half my wardrobe! I bough these because I have muscular calves. This has a 16 circumference calf but somehow they did not come up when I searched FRYE's wide calf boots.
NEVER RECEIVED THIS ITEM!!! NO RESPONSE FROM CUSTOMER SERVICE! NO REFUND! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!
Perfect fit. Love the smell. Disturbed by the slippery bottoms but took outside and scuffed. Looking forward to many years together.
Just opened the box and my whole house smell of leather ...beautiful clean smell of leather !!! Outstanding pair of boots that will last a long time . Leather in and out and true to size . Usually I wear 7.5 or 8 amd I went for an 8 and they fit like a glove . I just wore them around the house so I can't tell you how is to walk in them the whole day but I'm sure it won't be a headache. I'm so happy I purchased these because I was looking at these for a long time and I got them at the lowest price possible ;) You won't regret buying them ...they will make you happy :))
I just received these so I do not have the long history to review but I will say this...1. They fit my 17.5" calves! Which was my main concern. The slit in the back of the boot makes the top of my calf a breeze to fit in. 2. They are quite comfortable so far. Wearing them for my first 8 hour day today so I'm hoping I'm as excited about the feel tonight since I splurged on them for an upcoming trip. 3. They are really beautiful and fit well. 4. So far, the insole on the right boot is a little loose and bends under my foot when I walk. It's not as bad when wearing thick wool socks as opposed to thin silk ones but I will either be glueing them down or getting new insoles like super feet.
Great leather smell, sole is thin and slippery you need to scruff them up on first wear, I like the thin sole and the low heel. The shaft of the black boot is tighter than the brown pair it takes a lot of pulling and pushing to get them on, trying to loosen them up may buy some leather stretching spray. Once on the boot fits great.
Everything said about these in the reviews is accurate, the only reason I'm disappointed is there seems to be a boot nail coming up through the heel on the inside of the boot out of box. Hurts to wear because of the nail head coming up, so I will have to take them to be repaired.
Beautiful boots, supple leather, stunning profile…sadly could not get them on even with a boot horn. Sized half size up after reading reviews. I do not have wide feet, “cankles” or large calves. I do have a decently high arch, so unless you have super narrow, flat feet, not sure how you'd get them on. Suggest Frye adds a concealed partial side zip near bottom of boot sleeve. Bummed!!!!!
I love FRYE everything! and these boots are gorgeous…. BUT I could not get my foot pass the ankle…. And because they are a pull on, they were worthless! I had to send them back. I sure wish you would bring back the tall boots with the zipper in the back. Also being a very thin person, I wish you made some tall boots that were not as wide around the calves. I'm now on the waiting list for the Carson!, since you're out of my size!
