I had the Garmin 55 that I used for several years before it quit working. The 56 allows you to connect it to your phone via Bluetooth. This is very handy. Quality video and heat does not shut it off. Before the 55 I had tried others and they would shut off when they got hot. I love the Garmin Dash Cams!
I like Garmin products. This is my 5th addition to my Garmin Family (GPS Navigation system, Fitness Forerunner watch, and 3 Dash Cams). I have wasted money in the past on non-Garmin Dash Cams. Garmin devices are tried and true.
Great camera! Gives alerts but doesn't do it so loud that it scares you.

Any capable dash cam is essential, voice activated, easy install. Peace of mind.
OK Garmin voice command is the same for this Dashcam 56 and Drive Smart 65 GPS w/Alexa it can't be changed but it can be turned off in the dashcam. Couldn't find settings for the parking mode in the dashcam settings but was able to find settings in the Drive Smart App to turn parking mode off as needed. Poor documentation about this which shouldn't even be an issue. The dashcam is good, it records and video access via the app has worked great. It has a small foot print and easy to remove from the magnetic mount.
Nice camera, however the mounting system is really bad. The mount relies on a pair of magnets to hold it in place. The magnets are not strong enough to keep the camera in position when mounted on the dashboard. Additionally the magnets repel each other rather than attract. Especially with the power cord attached the camera doesn't remain upright. The unit doesn't save your language preference so each time you turn it on you have to go thru the startup process all over again. I was VERY DISAPPOINTED.
WIFI did not work. Would not connect to either of my phones. Spoke with Garmin tech support and no solution other then return to seller. Bought another from a different seller thinking it may be a different batch but it had the same problem. Updated software on both no help.
