great product for a runner, walker, or biker. simple to use and easy to store and track progress. The touch of a button starts it and the auto pause feature is amazing. it accounts for your stopping at a street corner pr pausing to tie your shoe and does not count your stopping time in your travels. mapping feature is excellent. For a walker the best i have found so far. i highly reccomend this product for anyone who wants to keep track of ther workouts,distance traveled etc. from the distance runner to the exercise walker it does the job.
I love this product. It keeps track of how many miles I walk and how fast I walk. It helps me meet goals that I have set for myself. I have tried pedometers in the past, but they never seem to keep very good track of my steps, besides I would rather keep track of miles instead of steps. I would recommend this product.
I researched the different models and went with this basic one and it is above and beyond what I expected. I average 15-20 miles a week, and I love tracking my mileage,pace,lap pace, time etc.. all at once. It is very easy to figure out and has been accurate.
This is my second Garmin watch.. The first lasted 3 years until i used it in a 10 mile race that was a downpour and did not dry out. It allows me to pace myself, know exactly what distance I have crossed, and great for walking, running, or biking.. The purchase from Walmart was extremly simple and best price on the net!!!
The Garmin Forerunner 201 is an excellent training tool. The Virtual Partner Mode is my favorite part. I can choose a distance and time and as long as I keep up with my Virtual Partner...I'm on pace. It is great to use for Military PT Tests to keep you on pace for your 1.5, 2.0, 3.0 mile run. I definately recommend this product to anyone that is serious about their training.
It is the best training watch that anybody can use. The only bad thing is that the cable that came with to install the watch with the computer, it's not compatible with my computer.
I've used the Forerunner 201 for a couple of weeks while walking, both alone and with my wife. It provides quick info regarding the speed we're walking, how far we have gone, and the time we have been walking. I walk faster by myself, so when I am with my wife I appreciate the feedback as to distance and time at the slower pace. It worked great right out of the box and is easy to use. I haven't used it on my bike yet, but I expect it to be just as useful. I'll do it soon.
The Forerunner 201 was easy to set-up and use, even for someone that is tech challenged like me. It gave me accurate readings which helps in my fitness program.
You want to train for a race? This is a great and inexpensive tool to help you log in your miles fairly accurately (more accurate than a Nike + system). The 305 is more accurate and has a faster signal aquisition, and also $200 more.
I purchased this Garmin for my husband who is a trail runner. Before he had a chance to use it, he learned from others that it does not receive a gps signal through the trees. It was a great price but we returned it and bought a higher level Garmin. It may work well for road runners, but not on the trails.
