I really like the quality and features on this GPS and it does not have the annoying recalculating feature on it. Instead, it directs you to take another nearer street or exit to get you back to where you needed to be. I really dislike that Garmin does not include a protectiion cover for this item. This GPS will actually give you a look at the exit signs, like the one pictured above, once getting closer to take your exit destination when traveling on the highway. Next on my to do list... road trip!
The Garmin Nuvi 2555LMT is great but in order to assure its effectiveness you have to: Register it at the Garmin site. do all the updates, takes quite a while. in order to get the traffic alerts to work you have to be in an area that supports the FM radio frequency that the built-in traffic receiver uses. It employs the TA20 power cable as an antennae so make sure you unravel it and make it as straight as possible in order to get it to work. There are hundreds of complaints about the Traffic receiver not working and this is definitely the solution because mine did not wok out of the box until I started trying different things. This is my 4th Garmin GPS and they are all still working wonderfully. I prefer these over the vehicles built-in GPS because of its portability and you can use the walk mode as well. Accuracy is to the letter. I am delighted with my purchase and so will you!
The Garmin Nuvi 2555LMT is a great value this GPS is so easy to use and gives fast accurate directions. And the traffic updates are great when traveling around town. I use it where I live and also I just got back from Puerto Rico where I used it also giving me great acccurate directions, which made driving easy with less stress in unfimular territiories. I reccommend this Garmin to anyone who is looking to buy a GPS
My husband had a Magellan 4250 for many years. We lost the charging cords and Magellan upgrades were $79.00. The Garmin nuvi 2555LMT 5" was such a great price and really a better option than ordering charging cords for the Magellan, updates that I chose to surprise my husband with this gift. This is a great product and set up is so easy that you really don't need the manually. I glanced the set up guide and saw the first thing to do is to plug it up and drive for charging purposes. I arrived home 15 minutes later and finished the set up in no time. The big plus is free Life Time upgrades. I did a lot of research before buying, almost to much. The bottom line is the price is great, set-up is easy and it was delivered to Walmart 1 day before the estimated date. This product did take longer to receive than most things I have ordered from Walmart but I knew it would before I placed the order.
I haven't had my GPS for very long, but I'm amazed at how accurate it works. My first time I tested it, I tried an address with the shortest route, and then went back home with the fastest route. I had saved more gas with the fastest route. The speed limit signs changes on the gps right on the dot. I couldn't believe it. I noticed in the reviews that some people mentioned that it couldn't get your home address right. Well, when I instructed it to go home, it perfectly told me to go right into my driveway. I like the fact that it shows me my speed I'm going also, and it lights up if I'm going over the speed limit. This is my first time ever owning a gps, and I must say that I picked the best. I'm planning on a trip to go back home to Michigan next month and this will be perfect.
I have used couple of other GPS devices but this is the best one ever ... it has an awesome feature that is that u can search about anything from the main menu .. the software is user friendly and good to have the lifetime traffic and maps update .. it is totally worth getting this GPS ...
I have owned 4 Magellan's and liked the way they worked, but I became disappointed with the screen when there was any bright light. I ordered a new Magellan and the screen was worse than the one I had been using for 2 yrs. I thought it was time I tried a Garmin. This one has a lot better image with bright light and once I figured out how to get around in it, I'm very happy with it. We do a lot of traveling and a good GPS is important. I feel this Garmin will do the job and I can see the screen.
Take the time to print out the PDF manual by placing 4 pages on each sheet. I had my C550 GPS since 01/08. Never a problem ! I removed all my data, called Garmin and transferred my 550 to my daughter as the registered owner. I have lots of use using the directions for various cities within two states..My upgrade is superb...Advise: read instructions, practice making entries and install the software in your computer. The more you use the unit the more apt you will become.
This is my first Automotive GPS, so my ratings may be skewed. It is first time user friendly, as neither DW or I had any trouble figuring out how to use it. The big trouble came from downloading the map and software updates...not hard to do but it's a verrrry large file. We have a monthly limit of 3 gb, and we exceeded that by 5 gigs!!! Unnecessary expense. Next update I'll be heading for the nearest library to do the update. After the update, we lost the verbal directions. I wrote an email to Garmin and got an answer the next day stating that during a map download the language may be lost, and they gave specific instructions on how to get it back. That's all very commendable as I didn't even expect an answer at all. Downside of the 2555 is that there is no choice of voices for directions. I think a male voice might be easier to understand, but we're doing okay. If a choice is a high priority, you might look at a different Garmin.
I need a GPS to track unexpected traffic because I work 72 miles from my home. If there is a backup I need an alternative way to go. I had a TomTom but they have their live traffic updates updates through your smart phone. With the amount I drive daily I went through my data plan in less than two weeks. The cost to up data plan to cover traffic updates would buy a new GPS in about four months so I bought this Garmin. Rarely does the GPS receive a signal for the traffic updates. It seems the peak hours is when the connection is least accessible and that is when I need it. I will return this and continue looking for a quality GPS. My old TomTom XL was great but TomTom lost my loyalty syncing their updates to my cell phone plan. I would not recommend this Garmin to people who specifically need it for traffic updates. If yopu need a navigation system this is a great product. The GPS is user friendly and the maps are accurate.
