thing that I like: - I don't have to keep charging this watch!!!! - with the app I am able to set up activities, chores, alarms, and more anytime. - I have a Garmin for myself, and with the app we check each other daily steps and we can do our weekly steps challenge thing that I like the most: - the date, I like keep tracking my daughter sleeping time. If the kids do not sleep well, you will see next day. Things that this watch need: - activity option like running or swimming. (distance) because kids do not need only count steps, they like to know for how long they run. I set up my watch when I go jogging with my daughter but will be nice that she has her own date.
My daughter had the original Vivofit Jr. Which lasted over 4 years (2 or 3 battery changes). The new one is very similar with a few upgrades. She loves the timer feature, setting her alarm, tracking her steps and the games on the app. Extremely easy to use and a great overall Garmin product.
My kids have had Garmin watches the last two years. They love that they can wear them in the shower, bath, or pool. I love that the batteries last and there is not a lot of charging like my Fitbit. Also love that they have the timer on the watches. So I can tell them 5 more minutes and they can track the time themselves. I would definitely keep purchasing Garmin for them.
I recently got the Garmin vívofit jr. for my youngest daughter , and I'm pretty impressed. The colorful display and interactive features keep my daughter engaged, making fitness fun. The chore-tracking and rewards system is a game-changer for instilling healthy habits even that I would prefer for her being able to clear the task from the watch . It's durable, has great battery life, and being water-resistant is a bonus. Although, I did encounter some connectivity hiccups with the app. Despite that, it's a solid choice to motivate kids to stay active.
Bought this for my son for Christmas in the Ironman band and so far he likes it and challenges his friend at school for steps. Only issue is we would like to be able to see the screen better. It is not backlit which makes it really hard to see the screen. You can temporarily light it up but that is it.
The screen light times out too quickly and is not bright enough. The watch is hard to read for my child. The quality of the screen is low for the price, or an AMOLED option would be nice. The functionality is good for controlling screen time (i.e., basic watch, activity, and chore option and less games and distractions). In other words, my kid is building healthy habits and having fun and that should be emphasized on future versions. Customization of the band or backgrounds via the physical or software would be ideal. My kid loves changing backgrounds and checking their progress. Coins are sufficient reward for them to do chores and that feature should be enhanced. A pace metric would be helpful on screen. My 7 yr old understands pace and when we ran a 5k together I had to use our race time to estimate for her. The activity journey and games are boring and short. 60 min of activity rewards a simple game that only lasts 5 min or so. While I am trying to limit my child's screen time, she should have more autonomy, fun, and feedback on her healthy habits. Que, routine, reward.
I was surprised by how small and dim the face is on this device. Really tough to read or interact with. My son has enjoyed using it for tracking his activities but it comes back to the shortcomings of the face.
The screen is so dark, even with the light on is remain dark. It's look to be an issue with this watch, as per the review on internet
I bought it for my 6 year old since he's the only one without an Garmin watch in our house. While he loves competing in daily steps with us the overall user experience of this watch is lacking and somewhat complicated for basic features. I would not buy again.
We got these for our twins for Christmas. Their watches don't stay connected to the app. There's no tracking on it like I thought or a way to locate the watch. One has already lost their watch and I have no way to find it because it's not connected to the app on my phone! The screen is dark and hard to see. I would have been better off buying them the next watch up from this one.
