We bought these for our children (ages 4, 7 and 9). They are great for helping them keep up with chores/responsibilities, tracking every day to do lists, watching their activity levels (and having challenges between themselves of who can get more steps). And they're also great for us to keep track of their sleep (one of our children has sleep issues, so this helps me make aure he's getting adequate sleep). Plus, it's waterproof! So no worrying during the summer months or at bathtime!
My kids love it. They call it their ‘fitbit' and like to track their activity goals. I like monitoring their active movement and sleep patterns. It informs my decision on which activities we need to participate in over the weekend. We use the coin system to cash I. Time for screen time. It eliminates kids asking for screen time.
This is the second watch we've had for our daughter. She lost the first one. Took her 2.5 years to lose it. It has so many functions that have helped with daily life and keeping track of things. I can't recommend it enough. Super durable and function.
It all starts with a lot of excitement. Unfortunately, in our case, the newness didn't last long. There are cool things you can do for your child - such as set homework/chore reminders. However, it is only a reminder alarm and doesn't show specifics about the reminder. My son opted to NOT wear it a few days because he was afraid he would get it wet. (I assured him that washing his hands and sweating wouldn't hurt his vivofit).
As a whole, we are so happy with all 3 of the Garmin viofit 2s that we bought. The kids wear them ALL the time and LOVE to track their progress with the app. They are water resistant and also comfortable. The only drawback (that knocked off a star) is that the bands are worn out within the year and it is hard to find a cost effective band replacement.
I have been wanting a watch that reminds my two boys (6 & 8)of when to do their duties such as homework putting away dishes and getting the mail. I have been doing the research for almost a year and decided to go with the Garmin vivofit Jr 2. My mom actually purchased them and gave them as Christmas gifts. The boys love them! They do the reminders I wanted but I also set wake up reminders and shower and brush teeth reminders and bed time reminders. I also can give "coins" (virtually) that they can redeem for rewards such as going to the movies or staying up later and sceen time. I am loving it because it's not a fight or hassle to get them to do things. The only thing I'm not sure of is the accuracy of the step counter. It said that one of the boys had taken over 3,000 steps in just the first half of a day, but he has a lot more energy than me so I guess it could be right lol. Overall I'm super happy with the quality and features of this product I will definitely be getting this for my daughter when she is old enough!
We got this for your daughter that just turned 8 a few days ago and she loves it. She's having a good time keeping track of her steps and making sure she earns her coins daily. Just wish the screen lit up. That's the only downside. Will probably get one for our son that will be 5.
I got this device less than 2 weeks ago. My kid likes it. The issue is it's not easy to sync to phone. As of today, it totally doesn't sync at all! A triangle shown in the screen after the sync arrow. Spend some time online to find out what might the problem, saying that it may be low battery. The product suppose to have 1+year battery life. How can it only lasted for less than 2 week?!! Frustrated.....
Overall my son loves his vívofit although the alarm continues to go off multiple times a day even though we have erased the alarms on the app as well as synced his watch many times. We even replaced the batttery. THe app says no alarms are set but the watch continues to go off. The strap also broke.
Nothing that the watch says it does work so am returning it
