Works great and was easy to install. I'm beating the heat in Los Angeles after three miserable summers in my apartment with no air conditioning.
very nice. good buy. happy with purchase.
The back looks like it has connections for intake and exhaust. However, only an exhaust hose is in the kit and the intake hose connection is smaller than the exhaust. This does not affect the function of the ac unit, but if it had an intake hose, it will make the unit more efficient by not sucking in already cooled air to be exhausted back out. Please not the water reservoir outlets are smaller diameter than a garden hose and larger than clear tubing. If you want continuous water release, you will need to clamp the garden hose. Not the best design for the water release outlet.
This allowed separating an office from existing central HVAC to minimize COVID-19 exposure.
We purchased our portable a/c unit about a month ago during a heat wave that seeing in. It worked wonders! You'd come in from the heat and instantly feel the refreshing coolness! These portable units are a little pricey compared to window units but they're much easier to install so that's worth a little extra.
Cooling great !! The box it came in was scary, so many rips and holes and extra tape. Alas the machine was undamaged. the window insert was a bear, and I have put in many of these ! It is a little noisy when the cool shuts down because of temperature maintenance. But the cooling really is great !!
It was very difficult to read and properly install materials due to instructions very small and not clearly marked. Trail and error finally prevailed. It turned a simple instal into an all day job. :( Also shipping unit they must have put it on its side. It kept tripping breaker so I followed instructions and let it set upright for 24 hours. Only used it for a few hours seems to be cooling but is very loud! Please note and remember if I have to return.
I was impressed I found one at my store. Unfortunately, there is some kind of error that keeps coming up when we turn it on, and it will not run. It said the water tank is full. It is obviously not, as we had just taken it out of the box. We tried “resetting” (there's nothing there) it, letting it sit there a whole day, to no avail. It's going back to the store. Very disappointed. I tried calling GE, but there was no option to speak to a person.
I bought this in September 2019. I plugged it in for the first time on May 31st 2020. It eould not work. It kept coming up with sn error. I called GE snd they told me that the item has been discontinued do they would not service it. They said they would send me a certificate of reimbursement and i could buy a new one snd the eiuld reimburse me up yo a certain dollar amount. The next day i bought a new portable air confitioner. When i got the certificate snd went to submit it with my receipt, the certificate said it had to be the GE portable air conditioner to be able to get reimbursed. Why would i buy another air conditioner that is no longer in production and not serviceable again? So i am out the dollars i paid for this. I am not impressed with how GE handled this and not impressed with the $200.00 big non working machine.
So I ordered this online for my farm house in Illinois. It took a week to get to my local Walmart. I got the notice it was there so I drove 20 miles to pick it up. When I got there, they brought the box out. The box looked like it had traveled around the world twice. It was torn up, opened, then taped closed, and had a few holes in the side of the box taped shut. I was hesitant to accept it but it was getting warm and the family wanted to get cooled down. I took it home. I opened the box and it was obvious that this product had been purchased prior, used, broken and returned. The package that the remote and instructions was open and the batteries missing. The plug that you connect into the wall was missing the grounding pin, which I found in the box at the bottom. I was not happy as I then had to box it back up and drive it back 20 miles and I did not have a air conditioner. The store manager was nice and apologized and suggested I call 1-800-walmart and they would send me a gift card for my troubles, I called them and the recording told me it was over an hour wait to get a customer service person. I am not sure why Walmart and their supplier would ship a damaged piece of hardware. While i can accept a minor issue, this was not minor. For example, at the same time I picked up a barbecue grill I ordered also. When I opened the box, there was a dent in it and the paint was chipped. Oh well, I kept it. I will not be ordering anything on line from Walmart anymore as I can not trust that they will ship me good product. It appears they may be having some company issues. I ended up driving to a city in Indiana and buying an a/c unit that was on the shelf so I could inspect it before taking it home.
