This product suits my needs. As I don't use the disposal very often and if I do they meanly vegetable waste need to put in the machine so 1/2 horse power is enough power for me. Installation is simple and straight forward but you need some handyman plumbing skills. The only thing bothers me a bit is that the machine hight is too tall. This takes up space under the sink where I use to store items there.
This is my 2nd GE disposal. The last one lasted 17 years. The new one is an upgrade, and it is quieter and more effective than the last disposal.
Easy install and has been working great. Great design and ideal for a 3-4 member daily home.

I'm NOT by any means a handyman and I was able to remove the 14 year old disposal and install this new GE device within 60 minutes.
The product is very new to us as we just had it installed, but it is sturdy and looks like it will last a good long time. It also appears that it was quite easy to install.
This appliances makes short work of getting rid of garbage. But it is the loudest, noisiest disposal I have every used! It sounds like a semi-truck starting up every time I use it. In that respect, it is annoying. I would not purchase another of this model, simply because of the cacophony it creates when operating.
My wife did the dishes tonight scraped all the plates of spaghetti and salad and the disposal would not turn on I check that it was receiving power it was.. I felt for an on off switch could not find one but I found a circuit breaker that was popped I reset it try it again but it will not spin then the circuit breaker pops again
