Purchased this microwave after reading and comparing similar microwaves. Definitely the best product and at a great price. Installation was straight forward and it works great!
We love our microwave. The best father for us is being able to take the sound off because we have some family who work late and don't want to wake everyone else when warming food 11pm at night. The space is perfect for larger plates, easy to clean, heats quickly the first time which I love! Did I mention that it heats the plate evenly?
I love this microwave! I had the older edition until it stopped working, but it was over 10 years old. That one worked well until it died from old age. This one has been even better than the other one with some updated features such as being able to just push the number of minutes that you want to cook all the way to nine and self cleaning, to name a few. It looks sharp and I like the gray interior as it looks cleaner.
This Microwave is not only beautiful it cooks like a dream! One touch features that truly make it one touch and you are cooking to a perfect temp! It was a very easy install and I'm thrilled with it!
The new microwave fit in exactly where our old GE microwave was which was our biggest fear. So far it's working just fine. The only issue is that the control panel buttons are very hard to push and the panel itself is getting bubbles after only a couple of months.
Overall installation went pretty well, but I noticed some flaws in the manufacture's provided instructions. Follow the instructions for the box removal included in the provided instruction manual. The instructions on the box require cutting and unnecessary steps. When using the wall template to drill out the pilot holed to anchor the mounting plate the template was inaccurate to the actual mounting plate hole locations. I would recommend overlaying the mounting plate on the wall template prior to drilling to verify the accurate locations of A, B, and C mounting plate anchor bolts. Only two wood screws were provided with the hardware and I needed three because I was able to anchor all three to studs. I ended up using one anchor screw from the broken microwave I removed. Finally, there was a damper duct adapter that was provided with the kit that was never mentioned or even itemized as an included part in the instructions. After about 10 minutes of trial and error and my wife's assistance, I figured it out. Have not really used it yet to see it's overall performance.
Bought this model in 2015, 2020 and 2024. I love the spacious design, but they aren't holding up long. In 2020, the design was identical and it just popped on existing bracket. NOT SO 2024. The template did not even match the bracket. I had to tape the bracket over the template to get the holes right. Actually had to drill a hole in the metal bracket to catch my stud. Disaster of an install. The manual is 80% old design sketches. Filter is different, top mount screws are smaller, bracket is smaller and has 2 clips, not 4. The plate ring is larger, the overspill has deeper pockets. Overall it saved me from shopping for a new design. Lack of perfect template and manual is worrisome. OH, the stove light burns crazy HOT, like burn your skin hot, up in the body of the microwave. You get hit by a blast of hot air like an oven when you open the microwave. Hope it does not melt the plastic plate ring. This definitely did not happen in the old design.
We just had a brand new JMV7195SK6SS model Over the Range MWO professionally installed by Best Buy yesterday. This model mfg date of 2023 replaces the same model we had which had a mfg date of 2017. We liked that one very much and it matched our other GE appliances. This new model has a huge design flaw which seems is a known issue by GE but has yet to be recalled. The overhead nightlight feature was redesigned with a halogen bulb which gets dangerously hot when it's on, low or high. Burn to the touch hot. We are afraid to use the light which is an important feature. We hope GE will replace the halogen bulb with a safer alternative.
I like GE products and decided to get another GE over-the-stove microwave when the old one stopped working after 15 years. The new GE microwave is noisier and not as powerful as the old one. Not really happy with new microwave - liked the old one better. Very limited selection at the store - only had this one GE over-the-stove microwave and I am brand loyal and decided to stay with GE. Now I wish I had compared with other brands.
The microwave venting has extremely low airflow. I'm not referring to the stovetop/range venting feature, which has very nice airflow. The microwave venting has such low airflow that any higher moisture cooking, for example a potato, causes huge amounts of steam condensation on the cabinets above. This eventually ruins the finish on the cabinets. I have the proper amount of clearance between the front of the unit and my cabinets, as specified in the installation instructions. I have compared the airflow from this unit to other manufacturers' units owned by my friends, and there is no comparison. Those units all have substantial airflow during microwave cooking and produce no condensation on nearby upper cabinets. None of my previous microwave ovens have ever vented so poorly, or caused similar condensation problems.
