Although I've only had my cooktop a few days, it's exactly what I've been wanting. It has so many advanced features and it's beautiful. It heats-up without delay and quickly adjust to temperature changes. Without knobs it makes the stove top so easy to clean. I simply love it.
Just installed this cooktop today and I couldn't be more pleased. I have been researching this cooktop for over a month. Installation was a breeze. Cooktop has classic elegant look with no knobs...all digital touch controls with plenty of features. Thanks
Just installed the cook top. It is a replacement for an existing LG 5 burner cook top. Only thing I do not like is the top on all of these are not a standard size. Wee have granite countertops and this glass top is about 1/2" smaller in width than all the other 30"models, but you would not know that and would assume all 30" cook tops would all have the same cut out or at least have glass a standard size to cover the opening. So I had to do some artistic fill in to cover the 16th" gap it leaves at the edges. Thank God for high temp black rtv gasket maker that matches the granite. I will update this review after a few months of use.
So far I am loving the cooktop. I was hesitant in going with the knobless version, but it's great. If you are bothered by having to lock the controls, then this is not for you. It's not a problem for me. I just have gotten in the habit of locking after each use. It's also easy to clean, which I love. Glad I went with this model. Works great for me.
We love the look and the layout of the cooktop. The burns all work super well. The dual cook area is an added bonus that we were looking for so A++ having that. After the installation of the cooktop we noticed that one corner of the cooktop of tortured up a little. So we gave it an average rating.
The first cooktop I purchased was scratched, returned it. The second did not have enough seal to go around, what I did have I had to piece together. It was packaged with 4 side pieces none for the 30” length. So another trip back to the hardware store to purchase more foam seal to finish the perimeter. I hope the actual cooktop works better than the packaging??
We had this product for a year and a half and the glass cooktop cracked. The crack spread like one on a windshield unfortunately, getting it fixed is not as easy as going to Safelite. It looks like we will have to buy a new one. Merry Christmas! Not exactly the way I want to spend my holidays. Another con with this product is that there was only one large burner. My wife is Italian and cooks a lot for family and friends. She often needs to use two large pots. So she wasn't happy about this after selecting this cooktop and actually using it. Another issue I have is the general disposability of products today. It used to be you could buy an appliance and it would last for 20+ years. Now you're lucky to have it last two. Why is this? It shows a general disrespect for the public and a general lack of integrity. I would like to be a fly on the wall in a the business meeting where they discuss and review the failure rate of these products, and some brown nosing suit brings up the profitability they would make from that. It's despicable and an unfortunate trend in the world today.
Our previous similar cooktop from different company lasted >15years. This current cookttop from GE MODEL #JEP5030STSS already got a major Crack. We bought this just 1.5 years ago. Hoping if company will contact to get replacement.
I wanted to love this cooktop, I truly did. It's sleek and smooth and pretty, but functionally it's been nothing but headaches. We chose a touch controlled cooktop for ease of cleaning and for the extra surface space we'd gain by not having knobs in the way. Unfortunately the GE technology just isn't there yet with this unit. If any liquid should come in contact with the cooking surface from things like pot lid condensation, accidental spills, cooking utensil drips, or pot over-boils, the cooktop will simply shut off, or sometimes even turn another burner on. Placing a pot lid, spatula or spoon on the cooktop often causes the same issues. It's frustrating to say the least. The temperature of your finger must be just right for the touch screen to respond, so this is another annoyance. While still under warranty, we tried to return the cooktop due to these issues and select another model but were told to read the user's manual. We even sent videos to no avail. We purchased this cooktop in July 2020 and just last night I turned a burner on and as it heated up, it promptly shattered. I'm guessing GE won't be replacing the broken glass since it's now 7 months past the 1-year warranty window, and paying a large sum for a repair of this poorly-designed cooktop is just not worth it. Do yourself a favor and skip this one.
The picture of this product is very misleading. The printer controls and burner locations are dark gray on a black surface. Unless I turn on the light directly above the cooktop you cannot see them. I’m sorry I did not research this better. There is only one large burner. There are two small burners that can be synced for a griddle. I was into much of a hurry to replace a GE profile cooktop after it got fried from power outage. There is a timer in the cooktop which is nice. The burners heat up fast and seem to be hotter than my old ones.
