Love our new cooktop, updated same brand due to size. Looks beautiful with our remodel
Upgraded to this model when we changed to counter tops. The black glass top is very sleek looking and really goes well with the black and grey quartzite counter. Had a similar GE cook top in our previous home that functioned great and expecting the same for this model. The glass on that was easy to clear and this should be no exception. The grates are heavy duty and stay in place. Having the controls on the right provides easy access. The installation was easy - dropped right in. No flame adjustments were needed.
As a veteran user of electric glass top stoves, I was thrilled to see this cooktop. The glass top is a breeze to clean, just like the ceramic tops of my previous stoves. I like the grates connecting over the top so pans can rest there. The fast boil and simmer temps are so efficient.. Good job GE!!
This cooktop replaces an older unit from GE. Huge benefit was that it got the same cutout in the counter. The product itself is a massive upgrade over the old one. So much easier to clean and keep clean. Easy installation, looks great, and the various burner btus come in handy for frying bacon, brewing beer, or simmering a delicate sauce.
I am happy that I just received my replacemenmt cooktop. Unfortunately the first one had what appeared to be a faulty power burner. I was sent an entire new replacement unit which appears to be working just fine. It is very attractive and sturdy. I use cast iron cookware and this unit is able to handles these pots easily.
Love the power boost burner! I have only used it a few times, but I love how fast it will boil the water. So far I can't say anything bad about the cooktop.
Particularly delighted with the ability to regulate burners; I'm saving much time in preparation of meals. Cleaning up the glass is so very easy - a chore I used to dread. The order took awhile, but it was well worth the wait.
While it is still new, this cooktop seems to do its job well, although I have a couple of concerns. My biggest issue with it is that the front-left igniter was faulty from the time of installation. It was tilted away from the burner and would require two, three or more attempts before igniting the gas. The technician whom I called out was unable to straighten it up and has ordered new parts. That's where it stands at this point. Another concern I have with the unit is that the glass is rather difficult to clean and, being black, smudges and spatters show up easily. Finally, I ordered this unit to replace an existing GE cooktop of the same configuration and, while the provided dimensions suggested that it would fit in the available space, the glass top was about 1/4" deeper, front-to-back, requiring modifications to the countertop it was set into (the adjacent down-draft vent had to be removed, and the remaining hole filled). So, although I have indicated that I would recommend this product to a friend, I would be sure to tell them about the issues I have had with it.
I never had a gas cook top before, so it is taking some time to get use to it. The one thing I really don't like is the actually top, not the burners or grates, but the black top. It is hard to keep clean or even clean it. It always appears to streaky or spotty after cleaning (see picture). Also, there are four burners, each a different size (see picture). I can't use my 2 burner griddle, because I can't really cook across 2 burners evenly, due to the different size burners. At least 2 of the burners should have been the same size. I would not have purchased this cooktop, but it came with the new house.
Looks wonderful. But in less than a few months I've had to replace it twice because the glass broke. Once right after installation and again when one of my pans tapped the edge it shattered.
