We really love our new machine. My oldest daughter remarked how clean her clothes came out (so much better than the laundromat!). Even my younger kids like doing their laundry now. The only drawback is that my youngest daughter is only 5'2” and getting clothes off the very bottom of the drum is somewhat difficult for her.
I've had my Smart HQ washer for 5 weeks now and I'm really enjoying this GE appliance. It has soooo many neat features. I would have to say my favorite thing about this washer is the detergent tank. I add 75oz of the recommended detergent to the tank and it automatically dispenses the right amount of detergent every time, no need to be measuring detergent load after load, Love it!! On the down side of this Appliance, this washer has a huge deep tub which is great if you're 6 feet tall. I'm 5'4 and I have to use my small step stool to be able to reach the clothe at the bottom of the tub once the cycle is complete. Overall I'm very satisfied with this purchase, I purchased the matching dryer and I'm very pleased with it as well. I currently have GE appliances in my home and have never had any problems with this brand (Knock on wood)so decided to stick to GE!
This machine is such an upgrade from our previous washer. It's got tons of space but doesn't take up much more room than our last set - it's just taller. The presettings are great for our needs and I love that it connects to wifi and reminds me when it's done! I don't feel like it “washes” as hard as our previous machine, but maybe that will make our clothes last longer. I also love the automatic detergent dispenser - you just drop your clothes in and press start!
Smart Washing Machine Top loading washing machines are the latest appliances that seem to have grown, along with refrigerators. So when I went to replace our current machine which fits inside a 1960's vintage laundry closet, I immediately ruled out front loaders, which have always been too deep. Surprisingly, the depth of top loaders has also grown in most machines; GE is the exception. They make a number of washing machines with a 27" overall depth, an inch deeper than the machine that we are replacing, and the absolute largest machine that fits in our space. It fits perfectly. Having grown 4 1/2 inches taller, it dwarfs our GE dryer, but interior capacities are comparable. The tub is huge; 5.0 cu. ft. I get on my toes to reach the bottom of the tub. My wife would have to climb in. I tried it out immediately on the collection of laundry we have accumulated; 6 different types of loads. This washer has 10 cycle choices with pre-programmed controls; more than most people would ever need. The really "smart" feature is that you can override and lock in various settings (water temperature, etc.) for each cycle to suit the way you do laundry, so it becomes customized to the needs of each purchaser. This washer has an agitator; clothes get very clean. It also has an automatic detergent dispenser which helps you avoid using too much detergent and triggering extra rinse cycles. It is adjustable, if needed. The gentle cycle slows things down but still gets clothes clean. A small load of towels and a mixed dark load with jeans became unbalanced. The washer senses this and attempts to rebalance before turning off. I had no balancing issues at all with the next 5 loads I washed over a couple of days. After distributing the loads more carefully/evenly around the agitator, the machine functioned very well. And it is much quieter than our prior machine, which is helpful since it is just off the kitchen. Thanks GE!
Love this washer... Only mishap I have had with it, is that if there's not enough clothes in it, it gets off balance. But other than that wonderful washing machine.
Running washer causes lights throughout new construction house to flicker. Electricians troubleshooted problem to electro magnetic interference with washer.
This is the second time within a year that the electronic panel has gone haywire. Halfway through the wash the panel gets weird letters on the screen and starts clicking every 5 seconds or so. Unplugging does not reset. Also agree with the many unbalanced loads with this washer. The load was initially loaded properly and it still gets an unbalanced load.
We are so disappointed with the performance of this machine. Washer barely fills with water. I realize this is a high-efficiency washer and per the manual, water is not supposed to cover the top level of clothes. However, there is so little water that the clothes on top are barely wet! (see first picture) The machine struggles and makes grinding noises while trying to agitate the clothes because there is very little water in the tub. It's as though there is only enough water to wet the clothes but not where there is standing water in the tub. The clothes barely circulate within tub. Clothes on the top layer do not get cleaned. The only way we can get our clothes near "clean" is to use Deep Fill or Comforter so there is enough water for the clothes to get agitated and circulate, which defeats the purpose of a high-efficiency washer. Moreover, even when Deep Fill is used, clothes on top stay on top; there's no movement of the clothes. How does clothes sticking out of the water line become clean if they never submerge during part of the cycle? There is lint residue on our clothes even with Deep Fill. Also, if Deep Fill is not used and because there is so little water, only those clothes that get detergent/water mix, while the machine is filling, come out smelling clean. The rest just smell like they've been rinsed rather than washed. We have been careful not to overfill the tub with every wash. I wish we could return this washer.
Could not be more disappointed with this washer. After many different detergents and cycles, dark clothes continue to come out with white streaks, clothes looking dingy NOT clean. White clothes come out with dirt stains that were not on the clothes prior to washing, requiring multiple hand washes to get clean. Additionally, the clothes are often dripping wet once the cycle ends, too wet to place into dryer. Attempt the “drain & spin” cycle and seem to be just as wet. GE you've really let me down.
We have had this washer since March 2019 and absolutely hate it. When we run any loads it is always unbalanced and is a pain to dig out all the wet clothes. Should be recalled
