We own a 1984 GE Spacemaker microwave that is built into our kitchen cabinets. After 38 years we decided maybe we should see if we could find another microwave that would fit in the space. I discovered GE still makes a Spacemaker with the same dimensions. It was a bit pricey but it fits and if it lasts as long as the other I'm OK with it. The old one still works but takes 6 min. to reheat a plate of food. There is a learning curve with the new one as it is digital and the old one had two dials and a button. But we are pleased so far. Thank you GE. The only negative was that it took a month to get it. Luckily we were in no hurry.
This is by far the best small countertop microwave. GE is the only one to offer the option to stop the turntable for cooking thins in a longer than the microwave is deep.
Our 9-year old GE Microwave died recently, after all those years of reliable, trouble-free service. Our Appliance Maintenance Agreement replaced it with the same model today (12/04/2023). We are so happy that it fit perfectly in our existing GE Built-in Trim Kit.
This new low profile replaced original microwave low profile in dedicated cabinet space. We think old one made it 25 years! Old one worked great but finally gave out. So glad to get basically same microwave again. No need to learn new appliance. Love it!
Our previous GE model (similar to this one ) lasted 21 years! Came back to the same model since it fits under the cupboard. Holes on one side were a little different but did get it to fit. I love the size and power of the microwave. The fact it's off my counter in my tiny kitchen is the best! Love the quick buttons.
When we remodeled our kitchen in 2015, we needed a microwave that was slim and of relatively shallow depth to fit a particular spot. It's compact, but just large enough to be quite usable. We love the look, size and function of this model. Just right for the two of us. After 8 years, it did begin to falter about 6 months ago (the fan would sometimes get stuck 'on' when you opened the door although it was no longer cooking; also we noticed it seemed not quite as powerful as it had always been). So in Sept, 2023 we purchased an identical model, brand new. We like it!
The only microwave we could find anywhere to fit in our cupboard. I was happy to find something that fit as the whole kitchen had been designed mistakenly with a retired model. We didn't know until it was time to purchase and found it was discontinued. This saved the day. I gave it 3 stars for the price. I have no idea why they have an 800 watt microwave that is this small priced this high.
The microwave works great but has a significant and in my opinion major design flaw. On my model, the operating controls are not illuminated and as a result are very difficult to see when installed in a cabinet. In order to select the desired operating activity, it almost requires a flashlight to illuminate the control panel.
Disappointed. Purchased new in 2021. In less than 2 years, the interior and metal door frame rusted, requiring me to replace the unit. Unit only used about 6 mo. of the year, as it is installed in second home. Poor manufacturing.
This unit has a specific size for which there is no competition. Ones you design your cabinets you have to buy this model only. I made this mistake 23 year back so I have no choice other than buying this model by paying four time price than other consumer microwave model from GE. It's quality is no different than consumer version of counter top microwave. This is my fourth microwave.
