The kit is the best I've used!
I really like the size of the bottles and that it came super fast and the product itself is amazing no more uv light for top coat and the brush sizes for the bottles are very nice. Its an all around good product comes with all you need to start using at home with any dip you may purchase and or already have.
great product quick and well packaged works beautifully
I highly recommend this product. It goes on quite smoothly and is easy to use. I'd suggest you wipe the brush on a piece of paper towel after each application to avoid the brush from getting hard & also wipe the bottle neck clean with Acetone to keep it from sticking to the bottle cap. This is standard procedure...The Top Coat shine is great! Submerge brushes in Brush Cleaner for approximately 10 minutes & wipe clean before putting back in bottles.
I got the basic set, not including the powder color but decided to try it out anyway. I followed the instructions ftom the booklet enclosed. The bottles have colored tops to differentiate them from each other, and are also named so you know which to use first. Unfortunately the activator bottle in my set was broken in transit (I assume), and by the time I received it all but a few drops were left inside. I cleaned my nails with alcohol and after it air dried I applied the Prep (green top). One coat. One nail at a time up to the point of adding color. After color has been added, then Activator, another coat of Base and Top Coat can be added to all nails at once. I waited about ten seconds before I added the second step. The Prep (a bit broader than a normal nail polish brush, but not as broad as the Base coat brush) has a strong smell of acetone and dries fast and matte. Like you have nothing on your nails. The next step is the Base coat (blue top). I also used one coat. Strong chemical smell. Base coat (nice broad brush) also dries fast. At this point your color powder should be added. According to the instructions, dip your nail quickly into the powder at a 45 degree angle, tap off excess powder and immediatly reapply Base Coat. Dip the same finger again into the colored powder (like getting a second coat). Tap off. I used a regular fast drying nail polish from Walmart since I had no powdered color. The Activator (violet top) should be used next. I dug into the damaged, almost empty bottle and got my brush wet and swiped it on my nails. I only had enough for one hand. If you are using the Gelix powder or any other brand of color please have enough activator for the entire experience. I added the Activator (very narrow brush) to all colored fingers and followed with another coat of Base. Let air dry. Activator had an acetone smell. I waited until the polish was completely dry before using the Activator. That extended the time but not by much. The instructions ask that you buff your nails at this time. I did not need to. I followed with another coat of activator and let that dry for about 20 seconds. Wipe off any excess activator with a clean rag. My final step was the Top coat. That bottle has a pink colored top. The top coat is thick, and smells very strong and caustic. Two coats. The brush is a bit narrower than a normal nail polish brush. I let my nails dry for about 10 minutes or so. Hard, shiny nails was the result. This kit includes a Brush Restorer (blue top). Clean and soften your brushes in 5 to 10 minutes by swapping and soaking. Don't leave the brushes in the Brush restorer chemical overnight. The polish lasted 8 days before the first chip. The gel powder may be best so I will try that next time. The entire experience was about thirty minutes but when I go to my nail salon I am there for an hour. I love this DIY kit. Thank you Walmart Sparkreviewer Program for allowing me to try this. Great product. I recommend it to everyone. Long nails, short nails.
This is my second nail powder to try, and I love it. It's easy to do, less clumping than the other brand, lasts for over a week, even if you are hard on your nails. The only thing I dislike, is that for some reason, the base coat made my nails hurt for about ten seconds, and there is a strong smell (think super glue). This system does work with nail dip powders from other brands. Wipe around the rims of your bottles when done, because just like super glue, you will have a hard time opening them next time if you don't. Why did I rate only four stars? Because the brushes suck. The very first time I used them, they were forking (half the brush goes left, half goes right, gap in the middle). Makes it a pain when trying to apply one smooth, cohesive layer of base coat or top coat. Update: I came back to lower my rating, because my nails were destroyed underneath, when I removed this gel. That never happened when using revel nail powder. I wonder if it has something to do with the pain I felt when I did the nails.
The Gelish Soak Off Basix Acrylic Powder Nail Polish Dip Manicure Set Starter Kit is perfect for beginners. The set comes with 5 different polish all noted to help you choose which one to use next. The only downside to this was it doesn't include the manicure powder!! A starter kit should include powder to complete the look! I would recommend this only if you need polish and are already in possession of the powder.
Gelish Soak Off Basix Acrylic Powder Nail Polish Dip Manicure Set Starter Kit was selected through the Wal Mark Spark Reviewer Program for my honest opinion. I am disappointed because I got this for my 11 year old because kids always want to be like their mommie. I get dipped nails when I go to the nail salon so I thought this would be something similar. Wrong was I. There is no powder. I mean you can buy some, separately. Had I known that, I would have selected something else. Well we tried it anyways and outside of being disappointed about the powder, it turned out ok. As long as you follow the directions, you should not have any problems using this set. As far as a kid (my 11 year old), I recommend that a parent or someone older be there with them while using this to provide some guidance. They can do it on their own but at the same time you want to make sure things do not dry up or get a little too messy. Each bottle is color coded which is a plus. I like the fact that this was done. Overall, I think this is an ok set, they should look into adding the powder though. It does not have to be anything large.
I am a HUGE Gel nail fan. I have about 25 gel colors and change my gel, weekly. I was excited to try this product, as I received it free to try, for my honest opinion. I am frustrated, because this is only the kit and I feel like if the manufacturer wanted my opinion, they should have sent me the complete system. You cannot use this set, without the manicure powder, so please take note of that, when buying this. The powder is separate. The Gelish powders can be quite expensive, depending on the type of powder you get, as well as the size. I would love to get the powder, so I can accurately try this kit.
The topcoat is not working it is very thick and its brush stays hard when you use it on the first 5 nails. after that you need to put it inside the brush restore liquid for 30 minutes. 10 minutes its not enough. I do not recommend this kit.
