It starts the first or second pull even in cold weather. It is fairly quiet for the size. It puts out the advertised power. The only feature missing in the 3 KW version is an idle-down with no load. It runs full blast when on and has good voltage regulation with varying loads.

Hi I purchased this product based on other reviews which were very complimentary I agree. I easily assembled this unit, added oil and it started on the second pull. Very impressive. I have started it a few times since and it starts with ease. It is comforting to know that when the power fails I have a backup ready Al

I've had this genny for 8 years now and it's been magic. I live at 7000 feet in the mountains above Lake Tahoe and this thing has saved us on numerous occasions. When we lose power (Which is quite often) I need the generator to run the furnace blower...Otherwise we'd have to evacuate in the winter months. Last year it ran 8 straight days without a hiccup. Certainly enough to run all computers, TV, internet and a number of lights, although we're lucky to have a gas range. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. Will be going with a Generac whole home when we remodel. Thanks Generac

Great for limited use with excelent fuel economy. Nice circuit breaker & start/stop switch convienently located on panel---unlike its big brother the GP5500. One notable design flaw being the pull start is buried by panel & needs to be pulled on an angle resulting in both the loss of paint on the adjacent frame member and an appearing to begin fraying pull cord after 3-4 weeks useage. I hope they correct this bt placing the handle on the pull start outside of the pnel with the cord passing through a grommet in the panel. Time will tell. Also the breaker is rated below the rated outlets. This is border-line false advertising. I have a Dewalt circular saw rated at 15 amps that it will not run, even alone!

Purchased this generator as a backup power source when there is a power outage especially winter time to be able to run the furnace. This small but powerful unit does the job and does it well. I can run a fridge a freezer and the furnace with no problem whatsoever. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a cheap backup power source.

I purchased this as a "when I need it" kinda thing. I use it on our camper when we are dry camping, as well as when we are at the cabin and need to service the quads and equipment. I have put roughly 15 hours on this unit and plan using it a lot more. Very pleased with the product that I purchased!

So far this generator has started up every time on the first pull. The process for starting is also more simple than other generator I have used. Additionally, the gas gauge is easy to read and I love how it gives you an estimated amount of run time left based on the remaining fuel. My only criticism would be that the oil that came with it was not labeled, so there is no way of telling what type of oil I put in.

Engine Trouble

After 22 months of owning this unit, and about 10 total hours of operation, my generator threw a rod spewing oil and metal parts onto my driveway. I had to drive 20 miles to a shop that would work with Generac's warranty program. (The four shops closer had stopped participating in the program due to low compensation for their work.) Just took it in today, we will see how it all works out. While is was operational, the unit provided power just as expected. Engine had oil (I checked before starting it the final time) and it has a low oil shutdown feature, so even if I hadn't checked, it should never fail due to low oil... Unless it is a one-time use feature.
