Excellent choice for Low Sodium vegetable dish. I followed the cooking instructions and it cooked Great! lightly Firm full of flavor and tastes Great! This one is a keeper in my diet.
Bought these for first time but not the last. The pieces were nice sized, and stayed firm after cooking. Taste was excellent. Very good choice when fresh is not available.
I agree with stemmy. I also bought the Green Giant Steamers Asparagus Cuts for the first and last time. The box consisted of mostly the bottom cuts and did not have any flavor that asparagus should have. I will not be buying these ever again.
Most of the pieces were almost a light purple color. Those pieces were tough...ended not even eating then. The top parts were mushy and looked cream colored at the tips. Not good....wouldn't get them again.
Unfortunately the box of asparagus that I purchased was full of stems that only had a couple of Spears it was not very good and it up throwing it all away
For quite some time, we all have used Green Giant, & they have some very good vegetables; not this stuff! Notice the three different colors in the package. The lighter green stuff is horrible, too tough to eat & tasteless. Like a few other reviews, the package is mostly stems. Asparagus is a woody vegetable, but jeez, I felt these were swept up off the floor in the factory seconds plant, the stuff the fertilizer company doesn't want. Is it a trend with GG? I can't say, most of there frozen stuff is alright. Cooking FYI: I cooked these in the microwave as directed. They also looked like this, in the package, I just didn't get a picture of them before hand. These are plain, as I didn't want any sauce on them. I could bring this up to GG, or even Walmart, but really, I don't think even a free box will help (maybe a case) me consider GG any longer, let alone for asparagus cuts. Not just a one bad experience, their stuff has been pretty lacking of late.
Due to a diet and exercise program I'm on, I've been experimenting with various brands of frozen asparagus, because I don't have a lot of time to devote to cooking. I have to say this is the absolute worst asparagus product I've had thus far. I honestly don't mind the fact they are cut into pieces. BUT they left the chewy stalk end pieces in, and the flavor was odd, maybe because they add salt and baking soda?? Ended up throwing away most of it, and I have two more boxes in the freezer I'm trying to decide what to do with.
