I have been a T2 diabetic for over 15 years. I hate HATE testing my sugars because the lancet/Blood draw hurt and I would have to talk myself into pushing the stupid button. I knew I needed to be compliant but it was a struggle and I was not doing it as much as my docs wanted me to. I have tried all kinds of things over the years and had all but given up but had some events occur that pushed me to look once more. So I started researching and came across the Genteel. I know it's expensive but I figured if it did what it said (not hurt) it was worth every penny! So I ordered it and the lancets (lancets = totally affordable) and waited for delivery. When it arrived I was excited and nervous. I watched the video, set it up and tried it. OMG IT WORKED!!!!!! No Pain, and it gives you the option of alternative site testing too. I cannot be happier and excited to take a giant step towards managing my disease. I cannot recommend this product enough. It really does what it promises.
I got this for my 8 year old daughter and she loves it. Tried it on myself first to make sure it worked and I can asure you it does not hurt. The product claims on how it works are true.
I have had Type 1 Diabetes for a little over 4 years, and I got my Genteel about a month ago. With this, I cannot say enough positive things about it. I'll be honest and say I was skeptical when I read that it was completely pain-free, but it completely surpassed my expectations! It doesn't hurt at all and is totally worth the price. - It can be pretty intimidating for first-time users, especially younger kids, but it has made managing my Type 1 Diabetes that much easier and more pleasant -- my fingers have already healed completely! My favorite spots are my forearms and 2" above the knee, but there are so many other places you can use. - I'm trying to keep this review short, but I honestly adore this thing. A must-have tool for any diabetic!
Usually when something sounds too good to be true, it usually is BUT not in this case! Since I purchased my genteel lancer, I find that I test more frequently because there is no dread. To give you an idea of how amazing testing with the genteel is, I had an infection that was causing my numbers to run higher than normal. I have the habit of cleaning the device and replacing my lancet after each test, however I was in a hurry and even though I cleaned it I didn't put a lancet back in it. I was on the phone, not paying attention and pushed in the bottom of the device resetting it for my next test and in it's carrying case it went. Later that evening I tested and when I triggered the button I looked and no blood came out. I thought I had a bad stick but then realized there was no lancette in! My first thought was a bad stick not that the lancette was missing..testing with the genteel feels the same as having no needle...yeah I know it sounds impossible but It's not. They send these little rubber things for the tip to help gauge how deep it goes and I'm using green on my arm and my thumbs. When I first thought of buying it, I thought of all the reviews I read and wasn't sure I trusted them all and it seemed a bit expensive for something I wasn't sure would work for me. I am so happy I have this and happier still someone made testing not painful! I think this is fantastic for children and adults,like me, that hates the stick and has anxiety about the pain or needles. The kids will love you for this..and adults too! If you or someone you love has issues testing, get this!
Where to begin? One of the thingss we like the most is that you don't have to test only on your fingertips... You can test in the palm of your hand, forearm, even in your legs... it's virtually painless. I also love the fact that you can use many brands of lancets as long as they have a square base. Genteel works with suction and vibrations and you always get a perfect-sized drop! No more squeezing your fingertips... there are different tips to change the depth of the poke. It's customizable... My daughter doesn't want to use anything else and we've been using it for 2 years now.
When my daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in June 2015, testing her blood sugar was hard on both of us. Got this in January '17. Son was dx in '15. His little fingers were taking quite the beating. Read the instructions, that will make so much difference. At first he said no, but I did it to myself and showed him it didn't hurt. He placed it on his palm and jumped when he pushed the button (it does make a bit of noise), but then looked at me with shock. He said it didn't hurt at all. He then said, "Throw the old one away, I'm never using it again." I can check him at night without waking him up because I can check whatever area I can get to. (palm, arm, shoulder, back, or leg) We love Genteel & highly recommend it.
We bought a genteel lancing device for my daughter after about 6 months of regular finger prices because she was sooooo tired of sore fingers. She absolutely LOVES this product. We just got a 2nd daughter diagnosed and one of the first things she asked is when will I get my genteel? I am excited it is available on walmart.com now. Hope to see them in stores soon too. Saving for the 2nd one now. A bit pricey but so so worth it.
